Trendsetter Newspaper Reappears Like Mushrooms After A Hard Rain...

Photo and blog post by John Hoff

Apparently it happened within the last month or so: the dead tree media entity called "Trendsetter Newspaper" has reappeared after a hiatus of, well, who knows? Copies can be found at Cub Foods on West Broadway bearing a price of $1 per issue but containing far less newsprint than, for example, free copies of City Pages.

Trendsetter Newspaper is run by Travis Lee, a professional photographer and husband of former fifth ward city council person Natalie Johnson-Lee, who did not manage to unseat Don Samuels in the last election. Trendsetter was the subject of brief, intense political debate back in 2005, here's a link to some of that discussion, click here.

For a random YouTube clip of tree-sitting activist Julia "Butterfly" Hill, click here, and remember to ask yourself, "What is your tree?"

Nor did she (NJL) manage to unseat him (Don Samuels)5 years ago.

And now it's time for a random youtube clip of Vote for Natalie Johnson Lee

Okay I got on a little bit of a youtube kick but check this one out:

Because we all live here

I find it interesting that it is called Because we all live here but yet there is not a single person in the video (still pictures set to a tune) that is NOT Black. Not a hispanic, not an asian, not a caucasion, not an indian or even a mutt. Nope, just black people.

I thought we all lived here?

What that rag is back! What a waste of paper. I hope they print it on recycled phonebooks that HH collected off the doorsteps of vacant properties. That would be too good for it.

When is JNS going paper? You should just print off the previous 10 posts and comments and have Cub stock those?

JNS has no plans to ever go paper. The words of this blog are "written on light, not the flesh of dead trees." Sometimes, I know, folks print out stuff from the blog and may give it to non-computer users, and that's cool, but this blog doesn't DELIBERATELY go in the direction of paper.

Oh its great to hear its back. I loved this paper. Everything else you read about black people in the media is so negative. It was nice to see a different spin on the black community. The entertainment sector.

what do you expect when the best they can come up with for leaders are her,Edwards,Moss,Flowers, and others who try to get by on style over substance? The Black community needs to sort through their ranks for others to carry the torch because the one they are carrying is extinguished.
