It was back in 2009 when "Hawthorne Hawkman" wrote a guest post on this blog about the revocation of rental licenses for Gregge Johnson, click here for that story. Revocation of rental licenses didn't change the fact Johnson still had extensive property holdings in North Minneapolis, as documented (once again by Hawthorne Hawkman) on a "photo tour."
Now word reaches me from a reader that Johnson has defaulted on his mortgage of...
....$267,000. Click here for the legal notice. The notice pertains to more than one default in Sherburne County by Johnson and other unrelated parties, but Johnson's mortgage default is the one listed at the top.
The property in question is located at 11880 Highland Road NW in Elk River.
Though there's no smoking gun evidence in front of me that this mortgage default is directly connected to the collapse of Johnson's rental property empire, it seems pretty hard to avoid connecting the dots in a circumstantial kind of way.

You need to look into Reed Lewis (R Lewis properties) he another slumlord over north.
Tell me more about this Reed Lewis. The Minneapolis property website is an anachronism and doesn't let the user look up properties by name of owner. I need some addresses if I'm going to look at anything. Why do you think Reed Lewis is of concern?
Why is the City of Minneapolis pumping out rental licenses to these creeps faster than they can do enforcement?

It only looks like a pile of crap because it's been mismanaged for years by Hennepin County. The house was tax forfeited and sold at auction several years ago. The buyer was Ken Welch and he sat on the property for view years. The property was sold to Ken Welch with an agreement that he would restore it to livable standards and he did not.
He defaulted on the contract and it went back to the county. Reportedly another person was seen entering the property claiming to have ownership interest. This person was identified or claimed to be Reverend Jerry McAfee. However records indicate that the property is still owned by Hennepin County.
