Four words: Al Flowers Bingo Card.
Need I say more? Click here to download a PDF file of the Al Flowers bingo card, and be sure to bring it to future (poorly attended) press conferences held at imaginary NoMi intersections. The photo above shows Al Flowers at "where the intersection would be of Colfax and West Broadway, if something like that actually existed."
The Minneapolis Mirror was at the Al Flowers thing as usual, acting as though Flowers' rhetorical slop bucket was a banquet of brilliance. (Oh, Mr. Flowers, give me your gritty wisdom of the streets! Cleanse me from my left-of-liberal guilt! I'M NOT WORTHY! I'M NOT WORTHY!)
By the way, word is the intersection of Broadway Ave. N. and Colfax Ave. N. is kind of like Platform 9 and 3/4 at King's Cross Station in the popular Harry Potter Books. If the thought of Al Flowers as mayor is scary, imagine AL FLOWERS WITH MAGIC POWERS!

My version of this BINGO will include a cold refreshing drink - and bonus quotes like
ReplyDelete"I got FOUR people, I got FOUR people that sez you were illegal, Mike"
and
"Is Ackenburg gonna run everyone bankrupt? Stu? Stu? Where's Stu at?"
LOL. Or we could just play this video and see what bonus quotes are called out:

In response to the individual who has posted a comment I've rejected three times:
ReplyDeleteTake your best shot. I can hardly wait to find out who you are when you pop your head up somewhere like a filthy rodent. I avoid posting certain things to protect my son during visitation. But if you want to put my home address all over the internet, though, that's fine. You know why? BECAUSE--
Never mind.
It's a free country. Let the chips fall where they may. The Fourth Precinct protects me as it protects all of the Hawthorne Neighborhood. What do I have to fear from the likes of you?
So my anonymous non-admirer has left me another anti-valentine missive, which includes some of the following:
ReplyDelete---------
You post everything about others - your refusal to post validates the lawsuit against you, John Hoff.
(...)
Last chance to inform your readers. Failure to do so is a direct reflection of what the lawsuit alleges.
-----------------
To which I respond as follows:
It goes without saying you can jump in Jordan Pond, but for the record, you can go jump in Jordan Pond.
Secondly, I've already said that I won't post stuff that comes from somebody I suspect should be talking to me through my attorney. Well, you fall firmly into that category. Therefore I will not post your comment.
But it's so nice to know you care!
Oh, addendum: that would make FOUR times. But it's substantially the same comment, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteWait a minute, I'm confused. (Although maybe it comes from having a history of NOT filing lawsuits.)
ReplyDeleteSince when is it the obligation of JNS or anyone else to approve any comment on a blog they run? Is that somehow a violation of free speech?
Couldn't one argue that the decision to reject a comment (with or without notification or explanation) is itself an expression of speech PROTECTED BY THE FIRST AMENDMENT?
Or does the rejected poster only care about protecting the speech that he or she agrees with?
Just recently came across your blog. I live here in NoMi. Thanks for taking your time to write about concerns in the community. I will keep checking back. By the way, who is Al Flowers? I guess I am not up on things around here :) I do think NoMi is a great place with lots of great people. Yes, there is some bad mixed in and some sad things but I choose to appreciate all my great neighbors including you Johnny Northside :)
ReplyDeleteJNS,
ReplyDeleteThat was my point before in the other postings. These "anonymous" commenter really do care.
To Anonymous At 11:19, in regard to "who is Al Flowers?"
ReplyDeleteWell, he lives in South Minneapolis but imagines himself intimately involved with the issues in North Minneapolis. He's running for mayor on some kind of hopeless "also ran" ticket. He shoved Council Member Don Samuels at a press conference and then tried to claim it was because Samuels stepped on his toes. He's sort of a ubiquitous crazy character.
And, rather than lapping up his bullshit (like the Mpls Mirror) this blog calls bullshit on his bullshit.
Hey Anon @1119
ReplyDeleteyou can 'get to know' Al Flowers by watching this video here:

When I look at that photo, I think Al should pick up all that garbage while he's standing there.
