What Are You Doing at 7:30ish? Wanna Move a Fridge?
Guest post and photos by the Hawthorne Hawkman
These are the kinds of odd questions that get tossed around among friends in NoMi. Realtor, preservationist, and owner of "the Dinosaur House," Connie Nompelis (watch the video on this link to actually HEAR her name pronounced correctly) rounded up some help after scoring a vintage refrigerator for free off of craigslist.
Luckily, by the time I arrived...
Connie and Ken Farkash had gotten it most of the way inside. I took a few photos and then rushed in to help maneuver it through the doorway before anyone threw their back out.
John has articulated the frugal lifestyle that can be had in NoMi. Growing up with this scene in my head, it took a while for me to join in on dumpster diving trips. But free stuff on craigslist is essentially like dumpster diving with a search engine. So buy your (still) incredibly cheap house in NoMi; stock it with great vintage scores from craigslist, and come over north. This is how happy you could be:
LOVE IT!
