Word comes saying a 311 service call has been made on the messy "memorial" erected to young shooting victim Marvin Maynard on the 2600 block of James Ave. N, and the identification number of the 311 request is 322621. Reportedly, the matter will be "addressed" by February 12. If anybody wishes to "second" the 311 report, here is the email address for 311 which is VERY handy to have:
minneapolis311@ci.minneapolis.mn.us
Given the length of time it takes 311 to address these "memorials"--which inevitably turn into a sodden mess of paper, stuffed animals, beer cans and booze bottles--it appears 311 should be notified THE VERY DAY THE MEMORIALS GO UP, so that by the time it's a month later, a clean-up can finally take place.

It will be interesting to see how long this takes and how thorough the removal/clean up will be.

As of this morning it was still there - and it seemed like actually some snow had been removed away from it as if to protect the little memorial items!
ReplyDeleteIt is August 1st, 2010 and it is still there and more has been added. The family moved out months ago from the block as well.
ReplyDeleteGet over it.
