A North Minneapolis resident who helped me to obtain data for both the area around Hawthorn (sic) Crossings strip mall as well as Wally's Foods wrote out helpful instructions about how to obtain this kind of data.
Here are the instructions, exactly as written...
John,
It's a piece of cake:
Sit down in front of your computer
Turn on your computer
Open your email browser
Type: crimeprevention@ci.minneapolis.mn.us in the address line.
Type something in the subject line
Type a greeting like: "Hi," or "To Whom It May Concern," or "Hello," or "Good Morning," or "Greetings," or "Dear Coolest People on Earth."
Type something in the body of the email identifying what you need (e.g. "I'm looking for the 9-1-1 call reports for Address X placed within the following dates xx/xx/xxx to xx/xx/xxxx"). I've always identified myself as a block club leader and indicated that I'm conducting research regarding crime statistics, but I do not know if this is necessary.
Type "Thank you" and your name.
Proofread the email
Press "Send" and then wait for a response.
Hope this helps.

You may also request this information for an entire block (e.g. the 1800 Block of Penn Ave N., or for an intersection, such as the intersection of Sheridan Ave. N. and Plymouth Ave. N.)
