Graffiti Incident at a Moghul Property

Post and photos by the Hawthorne Hawkman

A short time ago, I woke up one morning and drove past this property on the 300 block of 27th Ave N. It was kind of hard to miss the patches of white paint that suddenly sprang up over the maroon retaining wall. Given that I drive past this property at least once a day, I was surprised that what was clearly paint covering graffiti was put up before I saw what it was meant to cover in the first place.

But then I was talking to someone on the block who told me that, among other things, the offending graffiti said...

..."Drugs sold here."

This person told me that the house at 318 27th Ave N (which by the way, is behind on taxes by over $8,500 as far as this blog has confirmed) has long been suspected of being a drug house. The speculation was that the spray paint was covered up so quickly because the drug dealers didn't exactly want that information broadcast to the ever-increasing "We Watch We Call" crowd.

Of course, the opposite could be true; if you didn't sell drugs at your place, you'd hardly want that graffiti directing such traffic to your home either. But given what is known to have happened at another Moghul property, I know which story I'd believe.

And hey, even if you are one of the good guys, how hard is it to go over to North End Hardware and get some matching paint?

  1. One comment rejected which contained what could rightly be construed as a racist slur against Arabs/Middle Easterners/Muslims.

The substantive part of the comment stated that now the retaining wall will have to be removed in order to abate the poor graffiti removal job, and then asked if anyone has an address for Bashir.

I find it doubtful that the entire wall will need to be removed due to white paint. And the numerous links to city and county websites containing property info on the Moghul's make it very easy for anyone to track down an address.

  2. I suspect the paint is not low VOC and thus not eco friendly so yes the wall must come down to remediate this.

  3. That is total BS it does not matter what kind of paint is used on an exterior wall like that. Just another JNS troll spreading disinformation I think.

  4. "Nambla" is not a surname I've ever heard. You're not fooling anybody, troll.

  6. NAMBLA is the North American Man Boy Love Association, and the comment left by the troll fits right in with other comments where pleasant and substantive things are said, but then there's a sexual play on words with the name of the poster.

Just because there is a "Tom T Nambla" listed one time in some online directory, that doesn't prove anything. Troll.

But when you're the NUMBER ONE BLOG IN THE TWIN CITIES according to City Pages, hey, dealing with trolls just comes with the territory.

  7. That may be the case but many other surnames are used by various other organizations.
