And Now A Little Demolition Scuttlebutt...

Stock photo and blog post by John Hoff

The following information arrived by email and, well, I really have no opinion about it. But it seemed both substantive and concerned with the municipal good, so I thought well, what the heck: I'll find a nice stock photo, add some links, and distribute this wonkish information just-that-quick.

Check it out...

5. Demolition of Three Structures (1900 & 2010 W Broadway, 2324 Lyndale Ave N):

Accept low responsible bid of Carl Bolander and Sons Company, $62,600, for demolition & site clearance (Also in W&M/Budget).

So they're knocking down a few Northside buildings. I can't quite figure out which buildings they are from Google streetview, but it seems like a couple of apartment buildings?

Also of note, the attached description of "TMS Construction" and their failures.

  1. The 2324 Lyndale Ave building is almost certainly Wafana's.

  2. 2010 West Broadway is a small apartment building on the 'curve' area of Broadway. It's actually around the Logan Ave intersection. There used to also be the infamous ugly blue show shack that a certain someone falsely claimed part ownership to squirm his way onto the JACC Board, that shoe shack has been gone a few years now.

The apartment building is being torn down in order to make room for a much larger housing development. I believe it is the development written about here: http://www.tcdailyplanet.net/news/2010/04/06/broadway-green-project-jordans-west-broadway-curve

There are about 6 vacant lots on one side of the apartment building, and then the shoe shack vacant lot on the other side.

    It's kitty-corner from Capri Theatre.
