JNS BLOG EXCLUSIVE: Defamation Lawsuit Against Donald Bellfield Called "Fatally Defective And Subject To Dismissal"
Video and blog post by John Hoff
Following my previous blog post on the upcoming hearing on the defamation lawsuit against Donald Bellfield--an incredibly weak legal complaint which may be truly unique in the dodgy annals of dubious lawsuits, because the supposedly defamatory material in question DOESN'T EVEN NAME THE PERSON IT'S SUPPOSEDLY DEFAMING--information came my way from some helpful sources.
Here, loaded up to the Johnny Northside PDF support site, is the defendant's motion for summary judgment, click here.
I was told to contrast this motion with...
...a recent ruling by the Minnesota State Supreme Court, which disciplined a lawyer named Jesse Gant III for filing a baseless defamation lawsuit, click here.
Hmmm...is this one of those "separated at birth" situations? Could the relationship between these two things be SURPRISINGLY CLOSE?
I guess we'll see how it goes in court. If I get a chance to watch the hearing--where snacks are not allowed, this isn't the circus-like atmosphere of a city council chamber, after all--I will make a point of gorging beforehand on popcorn. Because defending this weak, desperate little rag doll of a legal complaint against a motion for summary judgment promises to be quite an exhibit of acrobatic skill.
I still love this the best...
