"Urban Exposure," which shares an address with J & H used furniture, lost its roof in last night's storm. This address was previously blogged about after a notorious and high-profile incident of alleged gambling and assault, click here, which then led to quite a bit of police attention, click here.
I kind of figured God's Wrath would come down on this place sooner or later, given the circumstances of the alleged assault. The (alleged) victim of the assault has a widespread reputation as a...
...pious man, and a bit of a Bible-banger, somebody who calls on God for mercy when the rest of us are calling 911 for police assistance. The no-account thugs involved in that sordid incident made a grave and serious error, in my opinion. They would do well to repent and beg God for forgiveness.
But in the meanwhile, here's an exclusive pic of their roof. Wow, I bet from the second story you can look straight up and see all the way to God. I wonder if anybody's weed stash got all wet?
Too funny. When I saw this of all businesses was the one that was hit, I did have to wonder if there was not a larger hand at play in this. Hmmmm......
ReplyDeleteJohnny - I find it puzzling that you have a story that says, ""JNS BLOG EXCLUSIVE: "Urban Exposure" Store Loses Its Roof In Last Night's Storm, Work Of Almighty God Is Strongly Suspected..."
ReplyDeleteWhy couldn't this story be a part of your coverage on "Storm Damage in North Minneapolis?"
Was this because it is a Black owned business with some type of "alleged activities" you don't approve of? (I see you posted some kind of reports or documents with the story).
North Minneapolis continues to rot at the hand of just a few folks. We shouldn't look the other way - but maybe you can ask Minneapolis City Councilman Don Samuels about "the extra non-profits" and the EZ monies. That would be a great JNS blog post.
CM Don Samuels has decided to turn a deaf ear to pro-active public policy involving Black people. When this happens, chaos becomes choice.
Don Allen,
ReplyDelete{begin sarcasm font}
You hit the nail on the head, there is a big conspiracy here with these two most recent blog posts. John decided to hold coverage of the Urban Exposure roof until this morning because it was a black owned business. How did you guess his modus operandi? You, Don Allen, are a brilliant mind reader.
I mean, seriously, the fact that John blogged about a downed tree last night, and then blogged about the roof being torn off an old building couldn't have anything to do with the simple fact of being cooped up in a house last night to wait out a storm, and then getting out and about the next morning when the weather cleared up. Nope, it was pure and simple racism. You guessed right.
{end sarcasm font}
Don Allen, you have all our attention. Approximately 500 readers a day are viewing this right now, and we are all waiting to hear more from you, please tell us what you, Don Allen, would do to fix and clean up the northside and save lives. Please, give us a point by point strategic plan if you were given the reins of the city (Lord, help us all).
And one more question, Don Allen, when are you and your new wife moving to the northside? Plenty of good affordable houses to purchase for you fiscally conservative folks who are so deeply concerned about this community. Need a realtor referral?
Oh, nice. 500 a day. Great job JNS!
ReplyDeleteExcellent response NoMi Passenger. All Don Allen does is whine and complain. Has anyone, ANYONE ever seen him help around NoMi? Has anyone ever seen him do anything do improve the community? Lord forbid he should get one of his suits dirty.
ReplyDeleteAll he wants is for the non-profs to use his media services, and when they don't he trashes them. All the agencies are aware of him and exclude him from their meetings because they are aware of his hidden camera recording tactics.
Donny is just angry because the big boys won't let him play on their team. And most won't even let him into the ballpark.
Hmmm right. Why the special post to draw attention to another Black Owned Business (BOB) that is being destroyed in our community. I think this is your chance to relish it. I too think it should have been combined with general NOMI related storm damage. Who edits this blog anyhow?
ReplyDeleteThat used bed store needs to be shut down!
ReplyDeleteDoes water kill bed bugs?
I do not agree with the opinion of Marcus and I am on fairly good terms with Don Allen. I publish the discussion because it is 1.) substantive, 2.) not defamatory, 3.) not a troll.
ReplyDeleteThough if trolls behave themselves, I even publish their stupid troll rantings.
Anyway, no offense to Don. Don did jump in and say hot things to start a hot discussion.
Marcus hit the nail on the head.
ReplyDeleteWhat's even more bizarre is that when the Don Allen couldn't get the local Republican Party to use his PR services, either, he jumped ship and joined the Tea Party movement! Since he's still in the sucking up phase that precedes inevitable rejection and sour grapes, Don gives the Tea Party a total, complete free pass on all their Confederate flag waving mob activities! Nope, not a trace of racism in the Tea Party movement, according to Don Allen!
I just read the Don Allen posts... Is he the same guy who tried to derail the community meeting about crime and violence a month or two ago? I remember a guy there who just went on and on about having too many non-profits in North Minneapols at the meeting, and this Don Allen's comments about non profits in his post lead me to think this is the same man. Between his conduct at the meeting and the lady who was screaming about how everybody else should fork over money to send her kids to camp for her, that meeting made almost no progress in terms of people being able to discuss the topic that we all (with two exceptions) gathered to actually talk about. If Don Allen is the same guy from the meeting, then I just have to say, he's doing a lot more to hurt North than to help it with those off-topic loud-mouth antics he displayed.
ReplyDeleteAnd PS, that urban exposure place was a crap hole that sold knock-offs when it wasn't operating as a front. If any of you recall an incident there a few months ago, you'll know we're talking about a store where the employees sit around gambling at a table then assault people who walk in and question the legitimacy of the business.
Here is a link to Don Allen speaking at a Tea Party rally.

Right now, I'm trying to approve some comments, but blog spot is being twitchy and I can't get the comments up. I was trying to confirm if Don Allen is a member of the Tea Party because somebody made that comment. However, I don't see direct evidence he is a MEMBER. I do see where he is speaking to a rally.
Again, I am on good terms with Don Allen, but if Don is going to say hot things in a discussion thread, folks will say stuff BACK.
@ NoMi Passenger: Don Allen has previously explained on the Minneapolis Issues list that he is in possession of the magic bullet that will instantaneously resolve all issues on the Northside, but he is waiting for someone to give him $180 for this valuable information. (Surprisingly, no one on the Issues list stepped forward to pay him!)
ReplyDeleteIn other words, all blood shed on the Northside from this point forward is on Don Allen's hands, since he could have stopped all of the violence, but has chosen not to, since he's still holding out for his $180.
He does say "we" in this Tea Party rally video, but does he ever say directly he is a MEMBER? "We need a movement," etc. But where does he say "I am a member of...etc."
ReplyDeleteIf anybody can see where he says it directly, please tell me at what point in the video it appears.
Anyway, Don is free to join what political party he wishes. There are some comments pending approval which mention his Tea Party involvement, and I wanted to make sure those comments are NOT baseless. I don't see direct proof he joined, but I certainly see strong affiliation, so the comments hung up in the approval process are NOT baseless. When they appear, they will probably appear above this comment, however, because they were submitted earlier.
I saw his discussion of the Tea Party on his old blog (the one that was mixed up in the alleged Ponzi scheme). Honestly, I didn't know that the Tea Party was an actual political party that you could join--I thought it was like being a member of the Mainstream Media or the Right Wing Fringe, just to give a couple of random examples.
ReplyDeleteThis roof removal was work that should have been done with Obama's Predator drones a long time ago. Why do other countries get the blessings of sweet freedom with free Predator drones and none of this assistance is given to NoMi?
ReplyDeleteNo, but seriously, Don Allen, congratulations to you.
ReplyDeleteYou have managed to spew out the all-time most stoooopid racist accusation ever in my whole time here in North Mpls.
I should make you a paper crown to wear or something. Congrats.
JNS,
ReplyDeleteNow we know you are a man of many talents, very well connected, and at times appear to pull miracle stories out of thin air as well as other places. Are we to understand from this post that "perhaps you are implying" you have some as they would say "Heavenly connections?"
I want to know why JNS is so concerned about the roof on this place, when a few blocks down, Alliance Housing is planning on putting up high-density low-income housing and there isn't a word about it on the blog.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it JNS? Have they gotten to you?
Nod once for yes, twice for no... it'll be okay.
Look, sometimes I just don't get a story that's out there. Feel free to write what you want to write about this Alliance Housing issue, and sorry I am not in the loop about THAT one.
ReplyDeleteAlso, please note, Shamika is a troll who says stupid and contradictory stuff. Even Shamika's name starts with "Sham." The "predator drones" comments hitting the blog lately aren't funny or clever, not even by incredibly low troll standards.
ReplyDeletein the alley, on the next block over, a garage was completely smashed by a tree that took out our power for nearly 24 hours. i'd have to say that was also the work of God. from what i can tell a white family lives there. if i had my camera at the time i would have taken photos - its a pretty interesting sight. another problem caused by the storm that, if john would have found, possibly would have posted an entire post about... because it's interesting...
ReplyDeleteOn several occasions I have seen young adults come out of that "business" and urinate between the building from the sidewalk on Broadway.
ReplyDeletePerhaps when the city is inspecting the roof, they should inspect the plumbing also?
Typical Don Allen comments.
ReplyDeleteFirst, a weak shot at Council Member Don Samuels. Hello, Don, get over it. Your fellow Jamacian won, like last year.
Second, ah Don, you don't live here. Your wife don't has to drive from the U of M campus to NoMi to get home.
Third, Question: Don, what did race have to do with the story? Answer: Nothing because you take every opportunity (and by opportunity I mean cheep shot) to make it a question of race, like that's the only trick your book. Oh wait, I think it is.
{begin sarcasm font}
Oh Don Allen, I can't wait to read your blog or response to this comment.
{end sarcasm font}
Come on JNS It was still a cute remark! Just think what some folks around here could do with a few predator drones! Like send a 10K volt zap to some lady pooing next to a garage? OR perhaps laser target a crack rock and vaporize just as the dude is making a deal, or as "S" said when the folks are between eviction court tenants just take out a couple of these down and dirty properties!
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean that Trolls can be cute too?
