Being the amazing, true-to-life adventures and (very likely) misadventures of a writer who seeks to take his education, activism and seemingly boundless energy to North Minneapolis, (NoMi) to help with a process of turning a rapidly revitalizing neighborhood into something approaching Urban Utopia. Bullet Holes From Living Near Problem Properties In North Minneapolis
Photos By "Kevin"
These pictures show bullet holes in the house of a resident in her 70s forced to live near one of the problem properties mentioned in the previous post.
If you live in Hawthorne, you might be thinking--hey, I've got even MORE bullet holes. I've got a crack house on my block and just as much open air drug dealing as 2207 6th Street North. So why isn't the neighborhood association passing a resolution to do something about THOSE properties dragging down quality of life on MY BLOCK?
Well, come to meetings. Get on a committee. Get active. Wherever you are, get involved in turning your neighborhood around. At the very least, call 911. Police don't have x-ray vision. If you see drug dealing, CALL THE COPS. Call the cops over and over. Take a picture and give it to the police to show what's happening when they have their backs turned.
September 11 is a good time to remember Tom Burnett on Flight 93 who said "We're going to DO SOMETHING."
Whatever you do, don't do nothing. Do SOMETHING.
