RNC 2008: Spectacle Versus Spectacle

The Republicans were in town, trying to create a compelling spectacle. So the opposition tried to create a MORE compelling spectacle. The gigantic Liberty Bell in the background is from the Ron Paul people. Most in the crowd weren't sure how to deal with the Paulies, so they kind of shrugged them off. The Paulies were like an oil slick atop slowly flowing water, seemingly part of the flow but...not really.
Yet you couldn't help noticing them. And the bell was kind of cool, albeit pretty non-portable, unlike the gigantic earth balloon.
