Being the amazing, true-to-life adventures and (very likely) misadventures of a writer who seeks to take his education, activism and seemingly boundless energy to North Minneapolis, (NoMi) to help with a process of turning a rapidly revitalizing neighborhood into something approaching Urban Utopia. RNC 2008: Transforming From Citizen To Protester (Or Medic)
Photos By John Hoff, September 2
In the two photos above, a participant in the September 2 Poor People's Rally and March puts on a t-shirt, transforming from everyday citizen to protester...
I bought a shirt at the rally, but I made a point of NOT wearing it because I considered myself a blogger, and therefore media, and therefore in a neutral role. Such small gestures and distinctions meant nothing as St. Paul police fired into masses of people, letting God sort 'em out. Click here for a dramatic video.
The guy in the photo below had just pulled on the "medic" shirt a moment before. The shirt he wore underneath said "St. Paul Fire Department."
