Hawthorne Housing Committee Gives The Green Light To A Green House (OK, so my illustration isn't GREEN, exactly)
Flickr.com, house with a "passive solar" design
Representatives of the "Appleseed House" project met with the Hawthorne Housing Committee, interested in building a "passive energy" house in the Eco-Village area...
Though members of the Committee, and in particular the chair, asked many direct and pointed questions, ultimately the committee unanimously approved the idea of a "partnership." The committee is not the end of things, but support appears quite strong.
(Another blog broke the story before this one, and here's a link, click here)
In looking over schematic drawings of one sample house design, I had two main thoughts:
1.) It is so cool to see lines on a blueprint which designate the angle of the "Summer Solstice" and "Winter Solstice." How modern! And yet...ancient.
2.) The thing on the schematic drawing called the "Mud Room/Mechanical" would sound better if "mud" were changed to "earth."
