Historic Photo; Old Farview Park Stone Building

Minnesota Historical Society Photo

Real estate agent and soon-to-be new Hawthorne homeowner Connie Nompelis sent me this photo, which comes from the Minnesota Historical Society.

It shows the old stone building which once stood in Farview Park, in the Hawthorne Neighborhood.

Connie thinks it should be rebuilt. I agree, but you'd have to restrict it to supervised-only access, otherwise people would drink, fornicate, smoke crack, etc. Oh, and you'd better budget some serious money to sandblast the stones every year, and remove graffiti.

But other than that, yeah, go ahead and rebuild it. This looks like a job for PRIVATE DONOR MAN!!!!

  1. From what I remember of the tower in the 1950s, they had bars over the entrance so you couldn't climb up the stairs and enjoy the view, etc..

  2. Maybe Connie would like to donate. Then she could have a tribute to herself.

  3. She'd be able to see it from her new house, too!
