Hawthorne Neighborhood Chair Finds A Bullet In His House (An Old One, Thank Goodness!)
Some days ago, Hawthorne Neighborhood Chair Peter Teachout was doing a little work on his house, which sits across from an incredibly active pill house slash crack smoking lounge--3020 6th St. N.--which is, thank goodness, in foreclosure and past redemption, and hopefully will be vacant in the very near future. In the meantime, the drug dealing scum at the house appear to be trying to make as much money as possible in the final, closing days or weeks.
ANYWAY--! Peter was doing some renovation with the "beadwork" in his house, and he was talking to a friend about how the neighborhood had been changing for the better by leaps and bounds when...
...at that very moment, Peter found an old bullet in the beadwork.
Peter showed off the bullet at Broadway Pizza a few days ago to me, Jeff Skrenes, Connie Nompelis, and Lisa Emery. (Lisa lives in a rental in the Victory Neighborhood, but she's house hunting for her own place. I met her through eco-friendly carpooling and I was all, like, you gotta meet the movers and shakers in the Hawthorne Neighborhood!)
When Peter passed the bullet around the table, there was general agreement between me, Peter, and pistol-packing Connie Nompelis that the slug in question was from a .38 caliber.
Then we went back to our food.
