Here Is The "Back Fence" Free Speech Open Thread...
Here is an open thread to say anything that needs to be said and, oh, like I promised to ONLY say during these times: kindly note the PayPal button, which supports this blog.
Does anyone know if Al Flowers is still doing his TV show? If he is, isn't that a violation of election law. Seems there is something about equal air time and non-profit providing campaign support, etc. That's why the gov had to give up his 'CCO when he ran for reelection.
RE: Al Flowers: yes I believe the cable access show is still going. I don't think it qualifies under the equal air time laws or whatever. I can't tell you exactly why but I remember 4 year ago he wasn't a candidate but he would have other candidates on, Peter McG. Natalie JLee, etc. and he didn't have to have their opponents on.
On a different note. It would be good to see a dialogue started regarding the following:
What is the distinction between neighborhood/community related issues which all communities (regardless of location) really should address and larger social issues, which cannot be dealt with effectively at a neighborhood level?
Anyone go by Evannor Haymon's new(ish) place and see how he's doing since his public listed court date (the july 23rd)... i think it might have been an "eviction" hearing from is old(er) place...
JNS- Tried to post last night from my phone, not sure if it went through? Not trying to double post-If it went through just ignore this one -
Some attention also needs to be paid to the Southeast corner of Broadway/Lyndale. Over the weekend I saw many people hanging out on the sidewalk by Walgreens; some of them even brought their own milk crates for more comfortable loitering! Time to put some pressure on Walgreens as well.
Funny you should say that! I noticed the same thing just a couple hours ago. The no-account loitering butt fence crowd seems to be shifting toward Walgreens.
i LOVE Johnny Northside!!!
ReplyDeletedid i mention that i LOVE johnny northside???
(going to paypal right now)
Do you agree or disagree that the drop in crime is due to foreclosures forcing the bad guys out?

Has anyone ever tried to define this distinction?

ReplyDeleteThe drop in crime is PARTIALLY due to that reason, but other factors are playing a role as well.
ReplyDeleteLike DEMOLISHING crappy buildings that used to be packed with criminals.
Yeah, THAT is having an impact and it's separate from the foreclosure crisis.
