Gee, if it's mediocre now, what was it before now?

  3. It just got launched and more content will be poured into it, I'm sure. Be nice.

  4. this is the first i've heard about the lake! nice!

  5. To Dennis,

Good point. I mean, we've needed SOMETHING for a long time and we have SOMETHING. Easier to work with SOMETHING than NOTHING.

  6. My point exactly. There's been more progress in the last few months than there has been in the last few years. WHY is that?

Also, on a side note. I am beginning to wonder who the negative troll is that has appeared recently. Anyone have an idea as to who might have recently had ALL of their time freed-up (hinh, hint - not working) that allows them to post in a negative fashion, almost as quickly as a new blog appears?

    Anyone???

  7. Yeah, actually, the news about the lake project was news to me as well! (See the website)

  8. The lake project/idea is old news. It was the cover story in the Camden News months back. The early feedback was skeptical because of all the houses that will need to be torn down.

I agree with the first Anon. This is very underwhelming. I don't like the layout at all. It's poorly designed from a user standpoint, in my opinion.

    Dennis Plante Replies:

Please, oh please name me as a defendant in one of your law suits. I'd LOVE to rub your noses in a judgement I'd file (and you couldn't pay) for attorney's costs due to the inevitable outcome of your suit. Here's the ever so boring scenario as it appears to unfold EVERTIME - the whole neighborhood tells you you're incorrect. You don't agree. This goes on for sometime. So, you decide to file suit to have the judicial system validate your claims. The judicial system rules you're wrong and. YET, you still believe everyone else is wrong and you're right. Next comes the defendants filing for the attorney's fees they've been awarded. What part of this EXACTLY do you NOT understand?????

Please, please sue me.... I am BEGGING YOU...... I will be your worst god damn nightmare......

    Dennis M Plante replies:

People that post anonymously don't even have a glass house to live in.... If we can't take my posts seriously, where does that leave us with your posts?

  12. The website is great. The images are wonderful. But it doesn't represent the "true" North Minneapolis.

North Minneapolis is not people sitting around the table "planning" - its a neighborhood in distress.

This site gets 9.5 stars, but I'm sure someone will figure out how to incorporate the true North Side, not the "Fluff" for people with the internet.

    BRAVO!

Like you're the poster child for positive posting?

  14. Don,

Respectfully, North Minneapolis (NoMi) is a complicated place. I'm not in distress. I have many, many friends in NoMi who are not in distress. Some are, yes, in distress...but how does that mean my WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD is in distress?

In fact, soon I plan to change my blog heading to get rid of the "arguably blighted" phrase. Things have changed THAT MUCH.

Don, quite frankly, I take exception to your comments. Many of the readers (and posters) on this blog have contributed much of their time, money AND hard-work towards the betterment of NOMI. Maybe it's just not in the manner that you'd like to see.

However, and please bear in mind, maybe there's other points of view to what you believe is necessary for making the community a better place to live.

  16. I'm sorry, but that site is pathetic. Click on Restaurants and you find 1. Click on Faith Communities and you find 1. If they needed more time to add more photos or stories or whatever, they should have taken it.

If I knew nothing about the Northside and just found that site today, why would I want to even consider moving here or visiting that site again?

Nope. Take it down until you have something there.

  17. Well, thanks for the input.

I remember when I started this blog. There was almost certainly a point when I had, like, five posts. I didn't know how to put up video and I was often using stock photos to illustrate. I didn't have "expandable posts" so long blog posts just looked...well, too long.

And I wasn't a homeowner at that time, just determined to purchase a home in NoMi, which wasn't even called "NoMi" at that time.

Now look! I have a blog that even attracts YOU to come here and comment, Mr. Negative Troll who is most likely one of two people, one of which should only be talking to me through their lawyer.

So I think the site has great potential. Do I think it needs somebody to pour in content? IMMEDIATELY? I sure do.

I wonder who would be good at something like that which could involve getting paid in real money instead of hamburgers and green tea ginger ale for services. Gee, I just wonder who in NoMi can really "pour on the content."

  18. If you're counting, that must make me #3 who thinks this is below average. I mean c'mon, these are not even articles with bylines, it's just fluff, and frankly, not interesting at all to me. I just can't see people coming back to this. Your site is not pretending to be a North Minneapolis one-stop (at least I don't think so). It's just one guy with his thoughts and people respond with their thoughts, like me. They should have a better product than what I saw.

  19. Hey Dennis M Plante....Chill out dude!

I wrote the glass houses comment because I've noticed that you like to take shots at others, like you just did! I don't have any lawsuits, so maybe you should lay off whatever drugs you're on, it's making you paranoid!

Seriously though, do you always lose your sh*t when somebody disagrees with you? It's called Life; get used to it.

  22. Any idea if there is a way to report bugs, broken links, spelling errors, etc to Carney Group about the website?

    I've noticed a few already.
