Specific, detailed coverage will follow on the recent Johnny Northside defamation lawsuit, which declared THIS BLOG TOLD THE ABSOLUTE, UNPOLISHED, HARSH AND TERRIBLE TRUTH when I said, on June 21, 2009:
"Repeated and specific evidence in Hennepin County District Court shows Jerry Moore was involved with a high-profile fraudulent mortgage at 1564 Hillside Ave. N."
The jury ruled THAT SENTENCE IS THE TRUTH.
Yes, we had a five day trial over the truth of A SINGLE SENTENCE, but in the end truth won. Your tax dollars at work. It is not defamation to say that sentence. And it's not trademarked so you can put it on a t-shirt, bumper sticker, or a sign at a political convention.
But now we need more than truth. We must appeal to obtain "justice and the American way."
To the many kind readers who have inquired how I am doing in the wake of the recent jury verdict and extensive media coverage on this story, I want to let you know...
1.) I was busy making this weekend fun for my 13-year-old son, which was my priority. I am perfectly capable of putting on a warrior face, doing my job, and acting as though I don't have a care in the world.
2.) A bloggy rain of fire is coming, and I will make sure disgraced former JACC director Jerry Moore wears that sentence like The Mark of Cain. Everything I can get in regard to the fraud at 1564 Hillside Ave. N. and the recent civil suit will be published, including links to PDF documents like the narrative statement of fraud victim Melony Michaels. I hope the lawyers in that civil suit are doing a good job for Melony Michaels, because the name of their law firm is going to come up over and over, not unlike the name of slumlord Keith Reitman; who was the seller of the property in the fraudulent deal.
To those who have become interested in this blog because of the recent free speech court battle I say:
What matters most is making sure all the "little fish" who were part of that fraudulent mortgage deal share the harsh legal consequences along with convicted mortgage fraudster Larry Maxwell. Let the whole city, state and nation know (as this lawsuit is appealed ever upward) we need to get to the rancid, stinky bottom of what happened at 1564 Hillside Ave. N. So let us focus attention like a laser ray on the zany "two bit players" who were INVOLVED, like two-bit player Jerry Moore the former Executive Director of JACC.
3.) The First Amendment itself is under attack, and this blogger will not back down from the battle.
(Do Not Click "Read More" But Do Know Jerry Moore Was Involved With A High-Profile, Fraudulent Mortgage At 1564 Hillside Ave. N. The Jury Agrees.)

Oh yay! (sic)
ReplyDeleteI read the StarTribune article and was shocked! How does someone get punished for telling the truth?!
ReplyDeleteGo back to where ever you came from Johnny Transplant.
ReplyDeleteIf you cared about "our tax dollars" you wouldn't be appealing this case.
Real northsiders know that you're a piece of crap, and if you want to live in Edina, MOVE THERE.
"Your comment has been saved and will be visible after blog owner approval."
ReplyDeleteOh that's right. You're not interested in hearing what real northsiders have to say. Only transplant pieces of shit.
"District Judge Denise Reilly threw out four of the five statements, saying they were either opinion or the comments of others on the blog. With respect to the remaining statement, the jury agreed with Clark's claim that Hoff had committed "tortious interference" by meddling with Moore's employment. Clark pointed out to the jury that Hoff, in a later blog post, took partial credit for Moore's firing."
ReplyDelete1 of 5 is hardly the complete and total truth. You are so delusioned it is scary.
Also, please change your name. You cannot be called Johnny Northside unless you are ACTUALLY FROM THE NORTHSIDE.
PS — anyone who uses the term "NoMi" can never be a northsider.
You need $60k plus $10K - your broke ass can't appeal...
ReplyDeleteOf all the coverage, this one is my favorite.
ReplyDeletehttp://volokh.com/2011/03/11/60000-damages-for/
Yeah, "Johnny Transplant."
ReplyDeleteThat's going to stick.
Not.
One reason your "anti-revitalization side" is losing so often is you just aren't as witty and clever as my side.
You lost so you are going to retaliate against Jerry Moore. How typical of you - your trademark.
ReplyDeleteDidn't you learn anything?
Why do I even bother to ask.
Anon 10:42
ReplyDeleteIf the U said that Moore wasn't fired (His temporary/seasonal position had ended), how could the courts find Hoff liable for personal injury?
Exactly what "Profession or Career" would comments on this blog interfere with?
I don't think this is going to stick and will probably bring to light further investigation into Moore's background and past.
I've seen first hand Moore's hair trigger and unprofessional behavior. If I were Moore I wouldn't get too excited yet.
Anoy. (9:57am, 9:58am,) same person, and 10:42am
ReplyDeleteThere is no reason why any rational "Northsider" should be angry about Johnny's efforts (especially if you own a home or business). Unless of course you participate in the same actions that the revitalization activists and the decent citizens of North are trying to mitigate.
Let me try to explain your anger to you clinically. Quite simply, I feel that you're scared. And this is perhaps why.
You have not yet fully self-actualized enough in order to not be solely preoccupied with yourself. Your only focus is that of your basic needs, and you perceive any change, even if it is good and perhaps even make a positive difference for you personally, as being a threat to your current lifestyle because that is what you know and what you are comfortable with. That is not necessarily a bad thing, a lot of people don't ever get to a point where they can give something back to society, let alone care about issues other than their own.
However, it's a problem when there are no constructive means for a person, or a neighborhood to achieve something greater, or poo-poo someone else's efforts when they try. The tool box is right here if you want it, it sounds to me that you don't though. Continue to be happy scoprions in a jar.
NoMi.
ReplyDeleteI love getting to NoMi everyday.
ReplyDelete"if you cared about our tax dollars you wouldn't be appealing this case"
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to find the logic in that.
I'm trying to see how if Jerry Moore had the right to use the judicial system, how is that John Hoff doesn't have the right to use the judicial system? Nope. Doesn't make sense to me.
And since we are talking about tax dollars and judicial systems...
How would one go about calculating the cost to the judicial system when one decides to take part in mortgage fraud by falsely inflating the purchase price of a real estate transaction so that one can benefit financially from the fraudulent proceeds?
How could we calculate those costs to the judicial system of 1564 Hillside Ave N?
I don't know anything beyond what I just read, but as far as I can tell from that, it sounds like a really bad decision by the jury. Best of luck with the appeal.
ReplyDeleteAnd I really don't get why some of your other commenters are so gleeful about this. Do they not realize the irony that they're fully their enjoying First Amendment rights to talk the smack that they are?
Dear God, if Boathead did have a blog and he wrote about the trial verdict, it might sound something like this:
ReplyDeletehttp://wonkette.com/440546/vile-blogger-fined-60000-for-malicious-factually-accurate-reporting
(h/t to above commenter Brendan for linking to that on his own blog coverage)
"One reason your "anti-revitalization side" is losing so often is you just aren't as witty and clever as my side."
ReplyDeleteYeah, you're so witty. So clever. So revitalizing. So smart.
Don't kid yourself. This is a GENTRIFICATION blog. Nothing more. (Maybe less.) You are a gentrifying transplanted know-nothing, and even if you win and remove all the brown and poor people from the northside, you still lose. Because we'll get it back. By force. The old fashioned way.
The way things were done here when you were still getting run out of whatever the last podunk state you lived in was.
Northside passenger (what a perfect name for a transplanted gentrifying scumbag):
ReplyDeleteYour hero the sleezy creepy owner of this blog Johnny Transplant is the one who claimed the first trial was a waste of taxpayer dollars. I mearly pointed out that another trial would be the same thing.
You guys are winning alright. Winning like Charlie Sheen…
Johnny,
ReplyDeleteGive 'em hell!
"I'm trying to see how if Jerry Moore had the right to use the judicial system, how is that John Hoff doesn't have the right to use the judicial system? Nope. Doesn't make sense to me."
ReplyDeleteFor starters, Jerry Moore PAID his court costs. John Hoff DID NOT pay his court costs.
You say he has a right to use the judicial system and you are correct. However, when JNS files In Forma Pauperis, he also abuses it as well.
I just read that he holds a law degree. How can a person of his education not have sufficient funds to pay his court costs?
Anon 10:42, you're so wrong with your bs statement that "anyone who uses the term "NoMi" can never be a northsider", it's just sad. Everybody I've met who uses the term NoMi actually owns a chunk of North Minneapolis. That's why they are not content to wallow in shit. If you happen to be a piece of that shit that feels displaced by the clean up efforts of the folks who actually care about their surroundings and try to make NoMi a better place, too damn bad for you. NoMi isn't about one particular demographic, it's about everybody whose got a stake in the community doing what they can to contribute and make the place better for us all. Sorry you seem to think that people on the Northside don't deserve better than what we've got, but that's on you.
ReplyDeleteAnon 2;52 -- I am a life-long Northsider and I say NoMi! Eff U!
ReplyDeleteJohnny Northside has done more to clean up our community that a lot of other life-long Northsiders have done. So Eff U again!
Effer .....
MinnPost Brauer Blog
ReplyDeleteThe award left media lawyers flabbergasted because, as Faegre & Benson's John Borger puts it, "If the statement was true, there should be no recovery. There is caselaw in Minnesota that the providing of truthful information is not a basis for tortious interference."
Trying to stay well informed here, does anybody have any links to articles in which legal experts are saying this is a good verdict and upholds constitutional rights accurately?
I'm so interested in the anonymous comment saying "we will take back the Northside by force."
ReplyDeleteWho is we? What is the force that will be used? Who will be forced out? Who will replace them?
I'm just so fascinated to hear moore--ha, ha, I mean "more"--about what you intend.
North Minneapolis is already a diverse melting pot. I only want a diverse melting pot that is SAFE and PRETTY and CLEAN and PROSPEROUS and INTERESTING and ENVIRONMENTALIST.
Indeed, whether people are rich or poor is not an issue to me/
I am quite broke most of the time, as anybody can see/
So tell me more, more, more.
Force, you say? Old fashioned force?
Anonymous commenters talking about "force" is pretty funny. What force is that? The force of your fingers on the keyboard?
@Anon 12:25pm - So you are saying that poor people do not have the right to use the court system? Go join your band of cowardly brothers on the idiot copycat blog that says mean things about people weight issues. Maybe you can help them find another non-profit to rip off so you can give "prostate" exams at popular nightclubs while sipping your kool-aide. Better yet, fuck off and stick you middle finger up your ass.
ReplyDeleteI have just read about this lawsuit from the media coverage and am stunned. Absolutely do appeal. The silver lining is that now the whole country knows who Hoff is and what a crook he is.
ReplyDeleteGood luck, Johnny! We need more fighters and truth-tellers like you in this world!
Anon 5:38, I think you meant the whole world knows what a crook MOORE is, the plaintiff who is so mad about the truth being told he sued the truth teller.
ReplyDeleteBut perhaps you meant Hoff and still wish him good luck, who knows.
Either way, your comment is published.
There is case law both ways! Faegre and Benson, not the best firm around!
ReplyDeleteYou'd be hard pressed to name a better firm.
ReplyDeleteYeah, go ahead and cite that "case law both ways." And remember, this is a real court of law, not "library court" from the Spanky Pete pseudo-lawsuit.
This is the far-right lunatic fringe method for silencing their opposition - they have MONEY and NO MORALS. We lefties need to get a legal defense fund of our own going. With luck we can tear the mask off this scheme and put the people behind it in prison!
ReplyDeleteDangerous Free Speech Ruling
ReplyDelete..."If telling the truth about someone gets them fired, then the issue should never be about the person who told the truth, but the person who did whatever they did to make the truth about them a fireable offense."...
Doogman, good to have you visit here from Colorado. Thanks for commenting and I notice you've got quite the list of blogs going, I'll have to check them out.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the far right vs. far left politics in this verdict, I don't know how one could apply that. I mean, you would think far right mentality folks would not be sympathetic to a guy who 1)got fired from his job at the neighborhood organization for punching/slapping/shoving 3 different people after a meeting 2)Mismanaged funds such as writing bar tabs off to a health grant for prostate screening 3)received a check for $5000 from a fraudulent mortgage transaction in which several parties helped to falsely inflate the purchase price of house and a stolen identity used as the buyer. You'd think far right folks would not appreciate that.
But tell me more of how you think this is party politics having an impact on the verdict?
I find it hard to characterize this as a left versus right battle. I think Jerry is to the left of me, but I am to the left of most folks. But far to the right on a lot of issues.
ReplyDeleteJerry is a "rotten apple" of a leftist. In fact, he has done things that are deeply embarrassing to the DFL, like what happened when he got kicked out of the 58th District Dems for lying about where he lived. See City Pages article, "Jerry Moore has a controversial past."
This blog gratefully acknowledges a donation of $21.70 worth of "in kind" value of direct assistance to my legal case and, oh, don't worry...
ReplyDeleteIn regard to that other thing, I'm sure my lawyer preserved that objection. I'm in good hands, and so is the First Amendment.
Only in your dreams is this a First Amendment issue: the issue, in spite of all the so-called expert opinion being bantered about is whether stating something that is factual prevents the action from being one of interference with an employer relationship.
ReplyDeleteYou will have to actually appeal and until you file, your words are rather empty. Then you have to prevail: I'm betting you don't. Time will tell.
Keep good financial records, all those donations are reportable income for child support and tax purposes. Every penny has to be claimed.
ReplyDeleteIn your dreams. You'll never be able to afford the transcripts of the trial which must be paid for at time of delivery. You'll never be able to afford the publishing of your appeal briefs. You'll never be able to afford the court costs.
ReplyDeleteThe clock is ticking and time isn't on your side.
You never learn from your experiences. Isn't it about time you wised up?
No, it's about time I STEPPED it up and blog MORE.
ReplyDeleteInteresting defamation lawsuit in Duluth, check out this link.

John will be able to afford it! Wanna know why? Because, this ruling affects EVERYONE in journalism. And with the professional journalists associations jumping on board, they will probably bring the ACLU and other people that will fight for the right to free speech. It is our right to scream from the rooftops "Jerry Lamont Moore participated in a fraudulant mortgage transaction at 1564 Hillside Avenue North"
ReplyDeleteTake a bite out of Faegre and chew on it!
"PS — anyone who uses the term "NoMi" can never be a northsider."
ReplyDeleteI was conceived born and raised here in North Minneapolis.. I don't mind the name NoMi. As for the transplants. Some of them have valid points some I think just like stirring shit up
Real Northsiders use the term "Up Norf" Like We Up Norf! Son!
ReplyDeleteYo, son, ummmm no they don't.
ReplyDeleteNo one says "up" norf.
and Norf is a retarded way to say North.
Fucking dumbasses. again.
