Sometimes Little Stories Can Be Found Right In The Dates And Times Of The Jail Roster Like This Story Of Repeated (Alleged) Domestic Violence...

Creative stock photo, a barracks in Afghanistan (I forget where) blog post by John Hoff

Contemplate, if you would, the words to this country song by Miranda Lambert.

County road 233, under my feet
Nothin' on this white rock but little ole me
I've got two miles 'til, he makes bail
And if I'm right we're headed straight for hell

Chorus:

I'm goin' home, gonna load my shotgun
Wait by the door and light a cigarette
If he wants a fight well now he's got one
And he ain't seen me crazy yet
He slapped my face and he shook me like a rag doll
Don't that sound like a real man
I'm going to show him what a little girls are made of
Gunpowder and lead

It's half past ten, another six pack in
And I can feel the rumble like a cold black wind
He pulls in the drive, the gravel flies
He don't know what's waiting here this time

(Repeat Chorus)

His fist is big but my gun's bigger
He'll find out when I pull the trigger

Looking at the jail roster, I can see a little story like that, only it didn't turn out nearly so well for the victim involved. The "turnaround time" from one (alleged) domestic incident to (what might be) another was just as quick, however...

On September 3, Gregory Derrall McRoy DOB 12/06/82 was arrested on probably cause for domestic assault. He was, however, released some 36 hours later because (it appears) there were no charges. So it was September 5 at one minute after 3 PM when Gregory was let go from the jail.

Two hours and 43 minutes later, at 5:44 PM, Gregory was back in jail formally charged with domestic assault and held on $40,000 bail. An additional charge of domestic assault by "strangulation" might be pending.

So what happened here? Was this guy out of jail for a couple hours then picked up again on the old charge? (I hope that's what happened) Or did it take this guy a very short time to head back home and (allegedly) put his hands around that woman's neck and try to choke her out? (I am ASSUMING the victim was a female but domestic assault could theoretically cover males as well)

McRoy lives at an address in North Minneapolis. Property records list a name that might be the purported victim of the (alleged) incident of domestic violence, therefore I will not be mentioning the address in this story.

  1. Minneapolis could care less about battered women. Hopefully this idiot stays locked up and the victim gets ghost. The statistics on men who choke their significant other and don't kill them, are very high that he will eventually do it! Sigh.
