JNS Blog Reader Digs Up The Name "Cory Jarrell Bryant" As Suspect In Death Of Demetrius Harper, Erick Felton In "After Hours Club" Shooting...

Photo, blog post by John Hoff

In a blog post yesterday, I discussed how my attempt to find information about a suspect in the "after hours club" murders of Demetrius Harper and Erick Felton led me to scour the jail roster, looking for somebody who had been arrested on March 13 for Probable Cause Murder, trying to turn up a name based upon a sparkly little clue dropped in a story written by a mainstream journalist.

I wasn't able to find the information I was seeking but in the course of my quest I actually turned up a fairly interesting Southside shooting that nobody else had written with the bloody, messy detail it deserved.

Now a reader/source using a different search method ("Dogpile?" What the heck is THAT?) has apparently turned up data online about an arrest for "PC Murder" on March 13...

I don't know the difference between dogpile and Shinola, but using the name Corey Jarrell Bryant as a search term on Google...

VOILA!!!!

Click here for a link to Jail Base Dot Com. There's the data about a PC Murder arrest on March 13 for Cory Jarrell Bryant. My sincere thanks to MPR News for leaving a valuable golden nugget of information laying around in your story for a blogger to exploit.

Keep in mind Mr. Bryant has not been formally charged for this crime. Legally, he is innocent. It is simply VERY INTERESTING that police thought they had enough evidence to arrest and detain him for "probable cause" on murder charges and that INTERESTING INFORMATION needs to be shared with readers.

Now, then, let's see what we can learn from MNCIS about Mr. Bryant, who was born February 6, 1985.

In 2004, Bryant faced a raft of charges: Controlled Substance Fifth Degree Possession, Receiving A Stolen Firearm, and two charges of Carrying Weapons Without A Permit. He pled guilty to the drug crime and the other charges were dismissed. There was a 36 month sentence hanging over his head but it was stayed for five years. A lot of activity shows on the court record in regard to the probation, including a probation violation hearing and an order for DNA analysis.

In 2007, Bryant faced four charges that all appeared to stem from the same traffic incident; Traffic Regulation (One Way Traffic), 1st DAS M, (not sure what that means) No Proof Of Insurance, and False Name/DOB To Police. Bryant, who acted as his own attorney, was only found guilty of the charge of driving the wrong way down a one-way street. I would consider this evidence he is smarter than the average bear and has enough sense to keep his mouth mostly shut in the face of allegations. This was the incident, however, that resulted in an online mugshot, click here.

In 2010, Bryant was charged with being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm and pled guilty. He had a 60 month sentence hanging over his head but it was stayed. He is on probation until August of this year. There is a probation violation hearing scheduled for April 18 in the court of the Honorable Judge Tamara G. Garcia.

Also in 2010, Bryant pled guilty to Fifth Degree Assault. He served a year probation for this charge and still owes $178 on the charge. It is indeed a mystery to me how people can be arrested and detained and get out of jail while still owing court fees for earlier convictions.

In March of last year he was convicted of check forgery. He received credit for 110 days served and appears to have concluded his period of probation.

Again, and to emphasize: Cory J. Bryant is innocent until proven guilty and, furthermore, has not been charged with this crime.

  2. I think a good preventive crime idea would be to hire this guy to shoot up all after hours gatherings and then we would have one less person looking for a job and a lot less after hours socializing by Chicago scum.

  3. An earlier version of this blog post spelled Cory's name as "Corey." This error has been corrected.

  14. I bless the ground that informants walk on. These fake assholes like to claim that they do not SNITCH on each other which is their way of telling each other that they are keeping it "real". Fucking lying bitches.
Thugs are the their own worst enemy and I will continue to pray that they slaughter each other with no collateral damage. Tremendous wishful thinking that I am expecting out of cowards who were hatched from diseased cunts.
    Sincerely, Sonny Costa
