Germans, blog post by John Hoff
Tonio Weaver, the subject of a previous blog post and the father of at least three small children, is now in custody. He is accused of robbing a number of cab drivers with a knife. The Hennepin County Jail Roster shows he was taken into custody at 10:38 this morning. He has a hearing tomorrow at 1:30 PM. His bail is set at $100,000.
The criminal complaint against Weaver came into my hands, click here, and it provides some interesting details on the charges...
It was June 18 when police were dispatched to 1838 E. 26th St. on a report of a cab driver robbed at knifepoint. The cabbie, whose initials are T.O., said he picked up a fare at Cub Foods (the complaint doesn't specify which one) and at the end of the fare the customer brandished a knife.
"I don't want to hurt you," said the robber. "Give me all of your money."
But the sharp cabbie noticed the customer had a Gatorade bottle with him upon entering the cab. It was still in the cab and police were able to take fingerprints. That's how the crime was linked to Tonio, who matches the physical description of the robber. He also looks like the guy who has robbed a number of other cabs in a similar manner.
Since Tonio was taken into custody, this blogger really doesn't feel the need to list all of Tonio's facebook friends and dig into their backgrounds or take other steps that I hinted at in my previous blog post where I pointedly mentioned by dear departed father, a former cab driver in Minneapolis who was robbed on the Northside and barely escaped with his life.
It is, of course, customary that I print the address of a suspect, so...
Tonio's last known address is 5100 Knox Ave. N., a rental owned by Outlook Estates LLC of Maple Grove. The license is in review and there was a lack of utilities reported in October of last year.
If Tonio did indeed turn himself in to the police, then JNS blog urges mercy.
If he didn't, well...
Then mercy should depend upon his previous criminal record. God knows police had his fingerprints for SOMETHING.
