A story in the Star Tribune about the latest North Minneapolis baby shooting, in which a 2-month-old baby was shot in the neck while in the arms of an adult reported to be the baby's father, includes the photo, above. Clearly, the Star Tribune wants to make this blogger's day and by publishing the photo they are saying, in effect, Go Johnny Go.
We all know, by now, the shooting took place on the 2400 block of Emerson Ave. N. The questions lingering at this point are who was involved and where, precisely, did the shooting take place? Based on the photo above, it took place at 2413 Emerson Ave. N.
After digging into online information, I'd have to say there is something very odd about this address...
For starters, no owner is listed. I've looked at hundreds, no, THOUSANDS of online entries for North Minneapolis addresses. I've never seen one with no owner listed.
The taxpayer for the address is Xenia Grushetskv, listed at the same address. The property is not a rental, or at least not a LICENSED rental.
(Eye roll)
In March of 2011, the property was sold by JJ & M Property Investment LLC to Minnesota Builders, Inc. for a mere $45,000. Incredibly, back in 2005 the house sold for $250,000 when it passed from Shoua Vang to Cha Yang.
No old rental licenses are listed for the property. No Truth in Housing evaluation reports are listed for the property, either. No structure information. No inspection permits. This property is a BLACK HOLE of information, except for the name Xenia Grushetskv.
THAT also turns up nothing. However, Google (in its wisdom) asks me if I am ACTUALLY looking for Xenia Grushetsky, with a "y" on the end, GRUSHETSKY.
THAT turns up something...
On Twitter, Xenia describes herself as an "editor, communicator, cartoonist, translator, Russian-born traveler, Simpsons fan (well, when they were good) and aspiring writer living in Minneapolis, MN. She has a highly developed "Linked In" profile which says she's involved in corporate communications. All in all, this appears to be a young professional with an interesting background. She lists herself as the "managing editor" of East View Information Services.
SO HOW THE HELL does this name end up on the ownership record of a house in North Minneapolis where a baby shooting takes place, and the house isn't even a rental? Is it a different Xenia Grushetsky? Is the typo really a typo or should I be looking for a Xenia Grushetskv (with a "v") even though that name has NO TRAIL OF EXISTENCE ON THE INTERNET.
Is this a case of...identity theft?
What the hell is going on, here?
At such an early stage in a Northside shooting, this is usually the question I end up asking.
But I am digging. Oh, yes.
Stay tuned.

OMG! KSTP just stated "the public is not in danger"! We're in danger all of the time here! We need at least twice the amount of officers in our area just to get to all of the crime scenes in a timely manner. I just hope the officers don't hesitate to do their jobs just because they're called "racist" every time.
ReplyDeleteThere are two rumors going around right now on Facebook, as follows:
ReplyDeleteOne, that a police officer at the scene made mention of gang warfare, and specific mention of Bloods and Crips.
Two, that the shot came from INSIDE the house.
These are merely rumors. If anybody has solid information, please comment. Well, heck, even if you don't have solid information, feel free to comment.
I see the owner's name as Xenia Grushetskv on the Hennepin County property info page.
ReplyDeleteOwner Name:
XENIA GRUSHETSKV
Taxpayer Name
& Address:
XENIA GRUSHETSKV
2413 EMERSON AVE N
MINNEAPOLIS MN 55411
Rumor being reported on Facebook:
ReplyDeleteThe shooter was the baby's uncle who accidentally discharged a firearm inside the house. Then everybody went outside the house. The uncle is on the run, so goes the rumor.
Who knows something actual that is not merely a rumor?
Sounds like it's NOT a rumor, it's being reported on WCCO and the "uncle" is 17 years old.
ReplyDeleteInformation being bandied about on Facebook, as follows:
ReplyDeletet appears not to have a current rental license. Was sold most recently, twice in 2011 in March to Minnesota Builders Inc. who purchased for 45K then sold it in December to Grushetskv Xenia for 110K. Anyone know who actually lives there?
oops...gangbanger brother shoots your baby so what do you do? well the only solution is lie to the cops... wasting their time and taxpayer resources while pos gangbanger gets on a bus going anywhere...meanwhile your baby is receiving 100k worth of medical service all at taxpayer expense...so well, maybe said baby can grow up to be just like uncle. nice
ReplyDeletey'all people talking bout a FUCKING rental licenses for a fucking house fuck tht WHAT BOUT THE LITTLE BABY IS SHE OR HE OKAY OR WHT FUCK WHO OWN THE PLACE AND THIS IS CRAZY WHAT BOUT ALL THE RANDOM SHOOTING GOING ON JOHNNY NORTHSIDE TALK BOUT THT INSTEAD OF ALL THE POINTLESS SHIT U SAY DUDE COME ON A 2 MONTH OLD LIL BABY SHOT IS PEOPLE SERIOUS....WOW CRAZY SHIT
ReplyDeleteWe are talking about the lack of a rental license because we want this CRAP out of our neighborhood, and the people who bring us this CRAP to be punished and for OTHERS to not take their place.
ReplyDeleteSo, believe me, there will be A LOT of talk about the lack of a rental license.
come on, seems like it was an accident. no need to call people CRAP.
ReplyDeleteMaybe if this baby dies the "powers that be" will finally listen 3:27!
ReplyDeleteWhere was the 17 year old's dad? Who let him have a gun in the house?
