Jeff Skrenes, pictured above and NOT accused of plotting murder this week, blogs on the "Hawthorne Hawkman" blog but got his start right here on Johnny Northside as a guest author.
Back when the The Hawkman was working for this blog, he wrote a long and excellent article entitled "Property Investors Mark The High Point of Hawkman's Weekend" which featured a guy named Michael Mangen, a real estate investment guru running a "tour bus" through our neighborhood and giving advice to wannabe property investors.
Jeff's article was written during an era when real estate values in North Minneapolis were so depressed, mortgage foreclosures had changed the face of the neighborhood, and now actual bus tours were being given to look at the destruction and see some kind of opportunity. During the bus tour Michael J. Mangen said he liked Section 8 tenants because he had "leverage" over them. Oh, turns out he loved to have "leverage" indeed and just couldn't bear to give up control....
The Hawkman went along with the tour and took notes about the mindset of people like Mangen, whose land lording practices have been tearing down the Northside for generations.
Well, there must be something in the water when it comes to real estate gurus like Michael Mangen. So many of these fellows seem to have a screw loose. I could name a few. But this week it appears Mangen is accused of plotting murder:

According to the article, Mangen had a "hit list" of people who had wronged him, including his ex-wife, and was carrying a loaded gun and hundreds of rounds of ammunition in his car. His hit listed included a friend of his ex-wife, a court employee, two pastors, and an investigator with the Minnesota Department of Commerce.
But, thankfully, no BLOGGERS are mentioned in the article.

I'm really not surprised that one of these shady investment a-holes is capable of this kind of behavior. These people thrive in high risk situations where a degree of arrogance, narcissism and borderline sociopathy is required to "win", and the results, especially those that negatively affect people other than themselves are inconsequential.
ReplyDeleteThis guy BETTER keep his six-gun by his side. Do you have a picture of him, property addresses that he owns, or his own property address?
ReplyDeleteAnd a commenter comments who just wants to stir up trouble. The comment speaks for itself.
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't own anything. He bilked people out of a lot of money and claimed to own 60 properties free and clear. He is full of shit and now will be someone's biaach!
ReplyDeletethis gentleman has just successfully defrosted his refrigerator and is extremely proud of it....case closed.
