Facebook image of Jaylin Davis used under First Amendment Fair Comment
and Criticism, blog post by John Hoff
Click here for a copy of the criminal complaint. Click here for yesterday's exclusive blog story on this murder.
Pictured above, murder victim Jaylin Davis, a/k/a "Skooby Straightdrop."
See below for reasons why I am using a photo of the victim instead of the alleged murderer, Trevante Williams. But in regard to the criminal complaint linked above...
It is the belief of this blogger that media should provide source documentation with their stories, so the public can decide and review facts for themselves. Plus those with a particular need for the original documents can...
...obtain them easily rather than waste a lot of effort hunting down information that should be easily available as proof and documentation of facts or allegations published in media stories.
I see the media providing government-generated source documents as an important aspect of "transparency" in a healthy democracy.
My readers need not stick around for my colorful commentary on the complaint, if they don't want to read my views and opinions. I habitually put criminal complaints and court documents at the top of my blog postings so readers can make their own judgments from the same source material.
No magic. Nothing up my sleeve. I am writing off the same script as KSTP and the Star Tribune, but I share the script with readers instead of creating a little stage production of feigned media omniscience.
Now, then, in regard to what I see as the interesting additional facts found in this document: Trevante Williams, who is currently a fugitive, is revealed to have (allegedly) the alias "Trap Moe." Aliases in North Minneapolis that contain "Moe" are usually affiliated with the gang known as the Almighty Black P-Stones. For the last few years, murders in North Minneapolis have often included "Moes" as either victim or perpetrator.
The "party house" where the Jaylin Davis murder took place was 4901 Camden Ave. North. The house, oddly, appears in current city records as both a rental and a homestead. The house was sold as recently as April of this year but as usual the city's online records aren't up-to-date with recent sales information.
The rental license was "in review" as of June 18, just three days before the fatal shooting.
According to the criminal complaint, Trevante "Trap Moe" Williams was angry about being kicked out of the party and said, "We gonna spray this mother f***** out."
Williams, who has been convicted of assault, is prohibited from even possessing a gun let alone shooting somebody with it, allegedly.
In regard to using a photo of the victim instead of the alleged shooter, this blogger still does not have a good and identifiable photo free and clear and out in the open for Trevante Williams.
If somebody can direct me to the Trevante Williams' Facebook page, I will be glad to use photos from that source for future blog articles, if any.

ReplyDeleteI am rejecting a comment that I think just goes way too far, particularly since it's directed at the victim and his family.
ReplyDeleteThank you for bringing to my attention that the link wasn't working. It should be working now.
ReplyDeleteAnd I will add I am quite disappointed with PDF-izen and I'm leaning toward just using my standard Google sharing apps from now on.
