"Uncle" Lennie Chism Puts Out Crude, Cartoony, Semi-Republican Campaign Flyer In Ward Five...

Photo By John Hoff, top, Flickr.com photo, bottom

Tonight I had a chance to see one of Lennie Chism's new campaign flyers and, oh my word, what a mess. Where to begin?

First of all, the flyer contains no issues or statements about anything substantive. Instead, it's just smiling Lennie in a suit with some odd little decorative emblem thingie reminiscent of the campaign literature put out by Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain. I've put the two flyers side by side so readers can compare and see what I'm referencing. Note the little emblem above the word "Vote" in Lennie's flyer and compare with the emblem above the words "Service To America" in McCain's flyer.

Gee, Lennie, we all thought you were DFL? But whatever. Lennie's campaign literature, like that of "labor friendly" Natalie Johnson-Lee, doesn't contain any union print shop markings. In fact, it seems to have been produced on...

...a color photocopier. The paper is cheap and glossy. Like Lennie in a suit. All flash, no cash.

The back of the flyer--which I'm not showing here, yet, because it's just so crude it falls below the already low standards of the blogosphere--depicts Don Samuels as a puppet whose strings are being manipulated by Jackie Cherryhomes. The cartoon is so badly done it's hard to tell who the people are being depicted, since it shows an old photo of Samuels with a mustache and Cherryhomes looks oddly like Hilary Clinton.

And, again, the flyer doesn't list any ISSUES. But does Lennie have ISSUES? Oh, clearly he does. Oddly enough, the make-believe blog character of Chipper The Entrepreneurial Squirrel has managed to articulate more specific and substantive issues than Lennie. Which is OK, because Chipper's just trying to beat Lennie, anyway.

Well, and Smithrud. A garden gnome could beat Smithrud.

  1. I heart John McCain.

I'll never be able to look at his 'star' again.

  2. Well, now we know where that twenty bucks went that he could have used to pay someone to mow the weeds at Uncle Lennie's.

  3. Love him or hate him, John McCain's star logo was supposed to remind people of a bronze star, the fact that he was a veteran and earned much more than a bronze star for being a POW. Lennie's "borrowing" this logo is pretty weird unless he has military service and happened to earn a bronze star too. If not, you could say that about as much thought went into this flyer as is going into his plan for a store on plymouth.

  6. I already addressed why I'm not showing the back of the flyer. Because it falls below blog standards. However, if there is controversy or discussion about the back of the flyer, I may get around to showing it another time. For now, it's just TOO STUPID FOR THE BLOGOSPHERE.

In re: John McCain, the bronze star, etc., thanks for that information. I didn't realize so much thought went into that decorative motif. I am one of those Americans who has great admiration for both Obama and McCain, though I voted for neither. I voted for NADER.

  7. What was on the backside of the flyer for Lennie Chism's campaign? Show us JNS. We will be the judge on standards. Puppet? What was anon speaking about? Anyone else seen the back - post a link.

  8. I also advocate for the showing of the other side of the campaign flyer. The content itself may be so offensive and/or inaccurate that it falls below even blog standards.

However, it is still substantive in that it reveals the kind of character Lennie Chism is.

  9. Now Lennie can add "conspiracy nut" to his resume, along with "weed farmer."

  11. @ Matt: ok, that's just cruel.

Anyhoo, if the "Chism for Cures" slogan doesn't work out, maybe he can try "Lennie, the Placebo Candidate."

  13. OMG! Is that weird picture that only thing on that website??

    WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT

Did somebody's kindergartener make that website as a school project? the text is all garbled together... wow, is that the kind of constituent service that Chism for Cures is offering?

  14. I saw the back of the flyer, and I've changed my mind. Lennie's website has been posted here, so JNS readers can go there themselves if they want to see Lennie's ugly backside.

But I now agree, this does not meet even the standards of the blogosphere. Talk about low. Time to go and erase the history on my browser so no one will ever know I visited that site. Ugh.

  16. I saved the website cache, and also a pdf. This will come in handy if Lennie, or his major supporter Don Allen, ever claim to be in favor of respectful discourse, or to be opposed to "getting personal."

  17. Okay "Spudz Fans" - I only person or person(s)I'm in major support of is the Republican Party of the United States. As for anonymous...save what you have to, do I have a surprise for you...it might cost you about $150,000 bucks - but hey, who's counting!
