Being the amazing, true-to-life adventures and (very likely) misadventures of a writer who seeks to take his education, activism and seemingly boundless energy to North Minneapolis, (NoMi) to help with a process of turning a rapidly revitalizing neighborhood into something approaching Urban Utopia. Atlas Pillar, Atlas Move
Post by the Hawthorne Hawkman. Video and audio commentary by John Hoff.
For a long time, the porch at Connie's $7,900 house was held up by a lone pillar, dubbed the "Atlas Pillar." Then it got reinforcements, and was later given a makeover. In the tradition of hooping in front houses, I showed off what I dubbed the "Atlas Move."
Alex is, unfortunately, not terribly impressed. And trust me, it looks better when Connie does it. But she was busy selling houses in NoMi, so you're stuck with me.
Also, I want to point out that these infrequent "puff pieces" do serve a purpose on JNS. That's to further the belief that NoMi is full of fun, hip people and that it's not such a bad place after all.
