EcoVillage Rehab to be Featured in Minneapolis/St. Paul Home Tour!
Post and photo by the Hawthorne Hawkman
The list of properties for the Minneapolis/St. Paul Home Tour has been released! This time around, Hawthorne's representative is 3011 6th St N. This house is part of the MURL program, and has a buyer. The photo above was just taken, while work is still being done. This place will look terrific when the work is complete - which includes preservation or restoration of much of the original woodwork inside.
ADDENDUM: This post originally credited the North News with releasing the information regarding properties on the home tour. A Hawthorne resident gave me a paper copy of the North News and inside that was a separate paper copy of the home tour. Since I had worked with a contact person, Realtor Margo Ashmore, at North News on getting the property on the home tour, I assumed that the two newspaper items were one and the same. They are not, and that has been corrected in how the post appears now.
I remember this property well. Back when I had to make regular passes through the EcoVillage just to be sure that nothing had been broken open or burned down, I came across a squatter in the place. Days after that incident was reported to the Realtor, the price dropped.
Now the house will soon boast yet another new owner-occupant in the EcoVillage and we get to use it to also show off the new construction that will begin soon. This is progress!
(Do not click "Read More," but do check out the Home Tour.)
One comment rejected based on a belief that it came from a known troll, and this troll couldn't even tell the difference between John Hoff and Jeff Skrenes
ReplyDeleteThanks for doing something about all the trolls. Now if you could only do something about the stop snitching movement.
ReplyDeleteAnon 11:41,
ReplyDeletePersonally, I would love to simply reject all the "stop snitching" comments based on their profound stupidity. However, those comments DO meet the standard of what this blog considers to be substantive discussion.
Perhaps - and hopefully - the best thing to do about the ridiculous "stop snitching" movement is to give them a platform to articulate their ideas so that we can all see how foolish and detrimental such notions are.
Yes, for the record, this blog goes out of its way to approve comments based on their "substantive" nature, not agreement with their content. And "substantive" doesn't have to mean smart, it may merely mean some half-lit ATTEMPT to say something sort of relevant or kind of meaningful.
ReplyDeleteHowever, incessant trolls who have their own piece-of-crap blogs, spammers posting live links to porn, die hard racists posting hateful dribble...these things don't make the cut.
The vast majority of comments do make the cut, however.
Thanks for your comment policy John. It makes for an interesting blog, even if there are some comments from the stop snitching movement. But the truth is the stop snitching movement is very powerful in NoMi, and I think Jeff is right that we have to confront them head on.
ReplyDeleteJohn, that statement is absolutely false and you know it. I have been monitoring this blog for close to a year now and I will swear in Court that statement is false. I have documented numerous times where you have not posted, and/or removed comments because they opposed your views or goals, or contained information you did not want published. In one documented case, for example, 14 comments under one blog post vanished overnight. When the hard copies were compared it was discovered that you had removed opposing comments, along with the other negative comments about your actions. While Jeff may approve almost any comment, you have deleted comments he has approved. That is a documented fact, saved on disk and printed out daily.
ReplyDeleteThus spake the troll, but just because something is said doesn't make it true.
