Seeking Clues In The Fiery Meltdown Of Thomas "Chatline Rapist" Evenstad, Charged With Threatening The Wives Of Prominent Public Officials...

Mugshot, therefore public domain, blog post by John Hoff

JNS blog was interested in "Chatline Rapist" Tom Evenstad years before the mainstream media became interested in him...or shall I say "re-interested" in Evenstad, because obviously there was media interest around the time of Evenstad's rape conviction, but nobody except this blog followed Evenstad's release and subsequent reappearance as a paralegal for attorney Jill Clark prior to her dramatic suspension from the practice of law.

Now the mainstream media have reported the recent shocking allegations of terroristic threats against the wives of public officials but these media seem to have rather quickly moved on to other stories.

Their coverage is a mile wide but an inch deep. Well, JNS blog wants to get to the bottom of what happened, here...

...because what happened here is INTERESTING. Is it possible for somebody's mere PRESENCE to be threatening? What if that person was arrested by the office of a sheriff and then knocks upon that sheriff's door years later? Is it possible to say such actions speak for themselves and are "inherently threatening?" Or does there need to be more? Some kind of words? Well, what KIND of words? Or is it threatening enough to merely speak in a loud voice and say weird stuff?

Do we, as a society, want the First Amendment to cover felons knocking upon the doors of sheriffs, prosecutors and/or frightened witnesses years later and saying, "Hey, you did me wrong. You need to talk to me about this."

The document linked above was published by this blog in December of 2012. Hard to believe, but Evenstad's lawsuit against the people he thinks did him wrong in the Minnesota Department of Corrections has been dragging on all that time.

Looking into the recent history of the case, click here, on January 10 of this year an order was filed which disposed of a good number of Evenstad's 17 separate legal claims but did leave some of the claims in the lawsuit alive, and did leave open the possibility of claims being filed again because some of the dismissals were "without prejudice."

All the same...

A lot of the lawsuit was just dismissed, THROWN OUT OF COURT, and that was BEFORE any actual trial.

So what is the current status of this federal lawsuit? And, my word, how will it be impacted by the plaintiff being INCARCERATED and charged with SERIOUS CRIMES? JNS blog intends to look further into the status of the lawsuit.

Meanwhile, I can't help but think some of the victim's of Evenstad's no-holds-barred internet rampages might think this is a wonderful time to bring their own civil suits.
