Some handyman came along and installed a cool feature on 416 30th Avenue North, the "problem child of the block." I've seen a lot of boarded doors, but I've never seen this particular innovation before.
Look closely! In the board over the missing front door--the one the firemen nailed up after I procured it for them, helpful like a Boy Scout--the handyman has cut a little "door within the door," attached it to hinges, and secured it with a hasp and round combination lock.
Nice work, handyman! Now the real estate agent won't have to say "bring a screw driver."
This is a much cooler innovation/evolution/adaption than "let's make the auction signs LOTS BIGGER. Let's make them GI-NOR-MOUS!!!!"

Doesn't this make it easier to kick in the door? Or is it still secure?
ReplyDeleteI think it probably is easier to break in, now. Just unscrew the hinges. However, when it comes to this particular property, the frequent trespasser just climbs on top of a garbage can and goes in the second story window.
