National Night Out (Photo 3)

Here are Jeff and Bryan from HACC helping to set up tables in Peter Teachout's back yard. We also had a whole bunch of folding chairs from a church, and the way Peter had them arranged...we all kind of wondered if we'd be in for a speech, sermon, or possibly a neighborhood revival.

Peter said a brief prayer over the food, but that was it. There were a lot of children who all played together on the swing set and jungle gym.

Peter has very good grilling skills. You know, folks tend not to notice good grilling skills, except when the skills are NOT present and the food turns out under-cooked or over-cooked. He did drop one hamburger, and said something about how we should all mourn over it.

I said there would be no mourning. Throw it back on the grill. The cow is a beautiful creature. Its life should not go to waste.

Thus, at Peter's meat-a-rific event, I managed to procure the one (arguably) "freegan" food item.

Oh, also....Jeff Skrenes said something funny. Jeff used to be a "PK," a pastor's kid, but since his father became a bishop, he now considers himself an "SOB."
