During the September 1 anti-war march, I noticed one of the police officers using this "Camel Back" drinking water system, which is either standard issue or (at a minimum) hugely popular in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Of course the war has come home in another way. I heard a report that when one journalist asked--while under arrest--"How do you expect us to do our jobs?" the journalist was told, "Well, have you ever considered being embedded with the police?"
