Department of Corrections mugshot, therefore public domain, blog post by John Hoff
Clarence Robinson isn't one of the way-too-many Level Three sex offenders which the Minnesota Department of Corrections has allowed to be dumped into North Minneapolis over the sustained protests of residents. Robinson last resided at a halfway house in the 55403 zip code, when he cut off his ankle monitor (presumably after a great deal of sawing that NOBODY noticed, NOBODY reported) and walked away.
However, in the course of reporting on this story, KARE dug up some information that's highly relevant to the issue of sex offender concentration in the 55411 zip code...
According to KARE, click here for story, over the last year over 200 warrants have been issued for Level Three sex offenders not in compliance. So, let's see, if the 55411 zip code has a ridiculous and disproportionate number of those offenders, HOW MANY OF THOSE WARRANTS INVOLVED LEVEL THREE SEX OFFENDERS WHO RESIDE IN NORTH MINNEAPOLIS?
Just in case Clarence Robinson should happen to find his way to the 55411 zip code, here's some information from the Department of Corrections that may be helpful.

First of all, Clarence is a really friendly guy. Feel free (especially if you are female) to walk right up to him, for example, in a line at the convenience store and say something like, "Hey, buddy, if you need some time to find your money, would you mind if I go ahead? I have a small child waiting in my running car."
Then you might add something like, "Your face is familiar. Haven't I seen you somewhere before? Like a Department of Corrections press release?" (Snapping fingers) "Oh, wait, I know! You were on JOHNNY NORTHSIDE DOT COM!"

But seriously...
In 1997, Robinson committed a first degree burglary in which he raped a female victim in a home in Minneapolis. I don't have the info about where the home was, but Robinson tied the victim's feet and ankles.
Robinson was given a sentence of 204 months, which he managed to make longer by escaping from Carver County, TRYING to escape from Anoka County, plus multiple robbery and burglary convictions which the DOC press release notes dryly were "subsequent convictions."
(So these convictions happened after DOC let him get away the FIRST time?)
Robinson was released from the prison in Stillwater on October 27. It took him a little while to get his bearings and come up with a plan. Six days, to be exact. On November 1, he got rid of the ankle monitor and sauntered away. (DOC says he "walked away" but I think "sauntered" is a more accurate verb)
Gee, I thought those ankle monitor thingies were MONITORED as evidenced by the use of the word "monitor" in the phrase "ankle monitor."
I guess some of the prisoners get PLACEBO ankle monitors.
Anyway, if you see Clarence Robinson...
Hopefully it will be on some street corner, and not stepping through your bedroom door.

After he broke into Anwatin Middle School in South Minneapolis. The man was making off with a garbage bag full of food.
DUDE!!! You broke into a building with an alarm system for FOOD?! Go dive a grocery store dumpster.
Didn't see the issue was already clarified by you, John. How about a new blog called "Johnny on the Spot ahead of the curve all the way from Afghanistan" I need to be more observant...and i will be. Anyhow, a funny thing happened to me on mw way to the show...
ReplyDeleteThe last time he dove in a dumpster he woke up at the Elk River landfill and the neighbors complained about the smell. I'm here all week and twice on Thursday.
