There was an argument about how people staying at the house were not taking good care of the furniture. Edwaldon Fells was told he could no longer stay at the house.
Edwaldon was not happy. He called somebody on the phone and was heard to yell "Bring that thing!" He left but came back with two comrades, one of them recognized to be Deandre Shawn Freeman, also known (of course) as "Dre."
Before coming back, Edwaldon reportedly called multiple times, threatening to come over and shoot the person who he eventually shot. Allegedly.
Did anybody at the house call police BEFORE the shooting? Well...
Apparently not.
When Edwaldon came back with his two friends, he reportedly pounded on the front door and windows of the house, demanding to be let inside to get some of his stuff. He wasn't let inside. The victim (not named in the complaint) was standing in the kitchen with his three-year-old daughter.
"I'm going to shoot you, ni**er!" a male voice yelled, and then "Dre" fired a gun multiple times through the kitchen window and into the residence. The victim was, according to the criminal complaint, "able to provide cover for his daughter" but was hit multiple times.
Arrested later, Edwaldon made it sound like, YES, he was angry and pounding on the exterior of the house. He even admitted yelling profanities and pounding on the window "with a pole." But the shooting? Oh, that was all on Dre and, actually, Edwaldon made it seem like he was a bit shocked and surprised by the shooting but when Dre yelled "Let's get the f*** out of here," Edwaldon was the one driving the white minivan.
Now here's where some interesting things happen in the legal process. First of all, the victim survived the shooting according to the criminal complaint, click here for a copy. However, did he die later? City Pages reported both men face murder charges but I only turned up a criminal complaint for attempted assault in the first degree. The jail roster does, however, list SECOND degree murder charges for Edwaldon though I don't have any criminal complaint in hand for murder charges. (JNS BLOG UPDATE, December 21, 2012. The City Pages article is incorrect. The victim did not die. This blog post relied on the City Pages information. This blog post is being corrected)
So is Edwaldon in jail? No, he's running around loose. He was released this morning at 7:26 AM with NO BAIL. (JNS BLOG UPDATE: That's not correct. Thank god the man was sent to prison, though not for long enough)
Is Deandre "Dre" Freeman in jail? No, I looked at the jail roster and he's not in jail right now, though the criminal complaint says the guy was picked up for "probable cause" and police recovered a Hi Point semi-automatic pistol. (Hi Point brand firearms are notoriously cheap POS weapons apparently created specifically for hoods who can't afford more quality weapons)
(JNS BLOG UPDATE: Freeman is reportedly in prison, too)
The address for Edwaldon Fells is reportedly 3028 Elliot Ave. S. #2 but the shooting happened on the 2700 block of Girard Ave. N.

I think your using the words ( of course "dre") is a bit racist. Could you please keep it more peaceful?
ReplyDeleteI don't normally reject comments merely for being stupid but in your case I was seriously thinking of making an exception.

ReplyDeleteYou must know by now that the Minneapolis Police are not geared to do crime prevention. What would the police have possibly done to prevent this from happening sooner or later?
The reason people don't get the police involved is that they know that law enforcement takes the path of least resistance in protecting residents. This is also why the thugs know they can get away with escalating behavior.
For example: Now that they have the two who committed this insane crime, they let them go to victimize other citizens. Sorry to say this is not an isolated case.
What message does this send?
When I look at the jail roster, I see people sitting in jail every day for nothing more than terroristic threats. Calling police BEFORE the shooting may well have prevented the shooting.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any hard evidence police WERE NEVER CALLED before the shooting, but the way the facts are laid out in the criminal complaint...sounds like they weren't. Sounds like the victim lived by that whole "no snitching" thing.
He was sent to the Dept of Corrections.
ReplyDeletepeople will not snitch when you are dealt with cuz to many people want yo ass too many stories and no bones
ReplyDeleteHe does appear to have been sent to the Department of Corrections. This is good news.
ReplyDeleteCONFIRMED, he is in prison.
ReplyDeleteThank you, anonymous commenter, for the info.
Did you know that Anonymous is watching your site and planning to take it down with a DDS?
ReplyDelete(Sarcasm font)
ReplyDeleteOh, tell me more, oh-so-informed troll. I am so interested.
DDS? He is taking you down with an anonymous dentist, i guess.
ReplyDeleteOne can't help but be reminded of the horrific "dentist" scene in Marathon Man with Dustin Hoffman.
ReplyDeleteIS IT SAFE? IS IT SAFE?
