Yesterday, my fellow Northside blogger Hawthorne Hawkman managed to confirm what I strongly suspected:
A house fire on the 2000 block of 21st Ave. N. took place at slumlord Mahmood Khan's property at 2008 21st Ave. N., pictured above. This is the SECOND near-fatal fire at a Khan property to take place this year.
It was only back in early March when a fire at 4425 Aldrich Ave. N. injured nine people, leading to a lot of media coverage and editorial comments by this blogger which were strongly-worded even by my usual freewheeling standards.
Allow me to refresh the public memory about what I said regarding slumlord Mahmood Khan after the house fire which injured nine people...
WHEN IS THE CITY OF MINNEAPOLIS GOING TO TAKE THIS BASTARD'S RENTAL LICENSES!???? WHEN CHILDREN DIE!!??
(Font size from original editorial, but boldface and italics added)
Two fires at two Khan properties in such a short period of time is either suspicious or negligent, take your pick. It has been said that tragedy strikes in threes, but twice now our city has gotten lucky. Nobody died in the first house fire, even though a 4-year-old child was thrown out a second story window into the arms of a Fire Department truck driver. Nobody died in this second house fire, even though a family was displaced.
Will our city get so lucky a third time?
There should not be a third time.
The City of Minneapolis must act, and act quickly and decisively, to strip Mahmood Khan of his rental licenses and take control of his slummy rental properties before American citizens die in a preventable tragedy under the very eyes of their city government.
Act, City Government of Minneapolis, ACT!!!
Stop jabber-jawing about this situation, stop shuffling papers, stop waiting for "the process" to play itself out.
ACT, ACT, ACT before children DIE.

He's just now finishing the repairs on his fir damaged house on 27th and Irving. This guy must have a very trusting insurance agent. Does rental property have to have insurance???
ReplyDeleteAnyone know what caused it???
ReplyDeleteThe magical collective power of wishing, that's what caused it.
ReplyDeleteNo, I do not have that info.
If it was a mattress fire one might suspect smoking in bed, or BEDDING CAUGHT ON FIRE BECAUSE SPACE HEATERS WERE BEING USED BECAUSE UTILITIES WERE SHUT OFF OR THE HEAT DIDN'T WORK, or kids playing with matches, or EXTENSION CORDS EVERYWHERE BECAUSE THE WIRING IN THE PLACE WAS WHACK.
ReplyDeleteNo Anon 9:49, rentals aren't required to have insurance which is BULLSHIT.
ReplyDeleteHouse insurance protects the bank from losing what it owns--insurance is required only if the property has a lien (mortgage).
So, if another Khan rat trap burns and damages a neighboring property, the victim will have to either make a claim against their own policy and (risk losing it, should they already have one other claim against the policy) or go through the agony of dragging Khan to small claims court and proving he was a negligent caretaker, which without a lengthy paper trail of prior offenses for that particular property, will be pretty hard to argue in the the current court system.
Did I mention BULLSHIT yet?
What exactly were you wishing for , mr.northside? You shall receive the Pakistani khilabrim curse and all I will do is say I told you so; ALLAHU AKBAR!!!!! Death to Infidels!!!
ReplyDeleteAlso at 315 26th Ave in 03/2012... I think thats the address... A Khan property...
ReplyDelete"Also at 315 26th Ave in 03/2012... I think thats the address... A Khan property..."
ReplyDeleteNot quite, but close enough for the internet ferrets to find!
313 26th Ave N. Minneapolis is yet another Mahmood Khan property. According to
Wednesday, June 6, 2012
Read 'Em And Weep: List Of Slumlord Mahmood Khan's Properties, Updated... and also the City Property info website, which has more info confirming the fire.
Mahmood Kamal Khan
313 26th Ave N Minneapolis Mn 55411
Checking the special assessments for that address finds:
" 12-0907973 1098 2012 Mpd Mpls Police Dept Authorized Boarding Mpd/Fire Boarding: Fire Damage - Structure Fire Entered: 20-Apr-2012"
http://apps.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/PIApp/GeneralInfoRpt.aspx?PID=1502924220087
No rental licenses, or inspection permits are showing for that property at the city website. Perhaps this is yet another festering carbuncle investment property.
313 26th Ave N. also is on the April 2013 Minneapolis list of vacant and condemned properties.
ReplyDeleteSo it appears there has ALREADY been a third time.
ReplyDeleteVery suspicious.
I was the current resident of that Shit hole when the fire happened. Had inspectors come in, and it had 48 violations. I was moving out, and a week later I left to go get my children from school, and came back to fire trucks. Then it was back on fire 2 nights later when I came to get my mail... Things that make you go hmmm...
ReplyDeleteRacial comment directed at Khan rejected.
ReplyDeleteThings that make you go hmmm...
ReplyDeleteTime to look for more coincidental combustions.
1611 Sheridan Avenue North is a house owned by KHAN and he is renting it to Lisa Krueger who is in jail right now for possession of explosives and Richard Boyce who is in jail also for Domestic Terrorism...
ReplyDeletethe beat goes on as KHAN rents to all scumbag lowlifes and destroys the fabric of our lives.
