When the name "Ryan Eugene Loyd" was first published by mainstream media as a suspect in the fatal Fourth of July shooting of Anthony "Phat Phat" Titus, JNS blog dug up details of his criminal record and published those details, click here.
Loyd was found guilty and has even appealed his case in State v. Lloyd. It would appear that his guilty plea is all messed up, as follows...
However, it appears a new trial did NOT spring Loyd, because as of January 12, 2011, he has been in prison on a murder conviction. He won't be out until April of 2033, at which time a ROBOT will likely be his probation supervisor.

I do not know if this criminal complaint in the Anthony Titus murder has been published elsewhere, but I don't recall reading its disturbing details, including the yell of "What's up now, little (racial expletives)?" before gunfire rang out. Click here for the criminal complaint.
The complaint names Kenneth Lee Johnson as the other shooter. Incredibly, there are five people in prison in Minnesota who are named Kenneth Johnson and who are in the Minnesota prison system. There are TWO named Kenneth LEE Johnson, but there's only one Kenneth Lee Johnson who was convicted of murdering a child.
Johnson is also expecting release in 2033. It's a good thing robot probation officers are tireless and only require occasional maintenance and (this is very important) nightly and mid-day uploading of software updates.
But back to Ryan Eugene Loyd. His street address on the criminal complaint is listed as 701 23rd Ave. North. Online city records show this as a homestead owned by Arunice B. Loyd of the same address.
This is exciting for the blogger! What will turn up when I search that name?
Well, only four traffic-related violations turn up, including a refusal to submit to a chemical test. But on the civil side of the court system, things get slightly interesting. In 2008, Arunice B. Loyd sued (oh my word!) the Commissioner of Public Safety. This was over the revocation of her driver's license. But the revocation of driver's license was UPHELD.
Arunice was sued by an entity called Asset Acceptance LLC and lost. Arunice (that's a woman's name, right? I'm assuming it is) still owes $6,454.11 on the outstanding judgement. She appears to be from the Brett Buckner school of thought when it comes to paying outstanding judgments. Since the Asset Acceptance LLC lawsuit took place in 2012, the judgment is still alive and current.
So this appears to be the background (the Loyd Loins, if you will) from which murderer Ryan E. Loyd sprang forth. But it's hard to believe. Arnuice is no saint, but she hardly appears to be a career criminal. It has always been the position of JNS blog that even within crime families of Minneapolis, there are individuals who are NOT ALL THAT BAD and others who appear to escape the taint entirely.
But my attempt to assemble the pieces, to get to the bottom of the crime families issue...
It continues.

Appellant was entitled to have his motion to withdraw his guilty plea on the basis of ineffective assistance of counsel presented by counsel who had not been representing him when the guilty plea was heard. We reverse and remand for proceedings in accord with this opinion.

ReplyDeleteWhat's left of The loyd's are here and what's left of the Bostic's are following in line.
ReplyDeleteJohnny, my brain swirls trying to keep all these crime family connections straight. Thanks for your perserverance for explaining it all to us! Having been a Northside resident for most of my life, I'll never understand the dynamics of these families or culture.
ReplyDeleteMisplaced modifier in the seventh paragraph, John.
ReplyDeleteI don't see it. Please tell me what the sentence says?
ReplyDeleteBostics? I don't know what you mean by "Bostics." Tell me more about these Bostics.
ReplyDeleteAnon 12:45 Your jive talk is getting boring, good luck with that job hunt!
ReplyDeleteArunice is actually a Man...
ReplyDeleteI would like to review the criminal complaint the link won't work
ReplyDeleteNot sure what is wrong with that link. It won't load up for me, either. I assume it is a temporary problem with PDFizen which may resolve itself.
ReplyDeleteIf you really want the criminal complaint, email me at hoffjohnw@gmail.com and I'll see if I have a copy in my computer that I can email you.
