Devonte Coppage, (DOB 9/3/91) who was the first murder victim of 2014 in St. Paul, was reportedly attempting to make a drug deal when he was shot at a gas station in St. Paul. Antonio Ray Seals is charged with second degree murder in the death of Coppage. I have confirmed Devonte Coppage is related to the Coppage family involved in the infamous Coppage murders in St. Paul roughly two decades ago.
JNS blog named Coppage as the recent St. Paul murder victim last night, a day before any other media source named Coppage. I also published his criminal record, plus...
...the thin criminal records of three people alleged to be involved in the incident, plus some images from the Facebook page of Coppage; a veritable visual celebration of the doomed and dead-end "thug lifestyle."
Check out his page to see if I judge too harshly.
Prior to being named on JNS blog, however, Coppage was named on North Vent Facebook forum.
North Minneapolis Resident Or Not?
I have heard, persistently, that Coppage resided in North Minneapolis but all records I've turned up for him show New Hope, Minnesota.
However, he lists "Minneapolis" as his place of residence on Facebook. He also lists himself as "married" to a woman going by the Facebook name of KeeKee Dem Dollars. Whether there is an actual marriage or not, she appears to be the mother of his child and ALSO lists her residence as "Minneapolis." A number of his Facebook photos have the look and feel of North Minneapolis and through North Vent Facebook forum I know Coppage had at least one good friend who resides in North Minneapolis. However, I do not have an actual street address for Coppage in North Minneapolis, only in New Hope. So I can't say with certainty that Coppage was a North Minneapolis resident but I definitely can't rule it out.
Threatened To Kill A Mother, Two Children, Allegedly
Now I've dug up a disturbing criminal charge from May of this year. Click here for a copy of the criminal complaint.
On May 13, at 5:41 in the morning, officers were summoned to 3014 31st Ave. S. upon a report of an assault. A female whose initials are NW met with police and said Devonte Coppage broke into her apartment, assaulted her, and threatened to kill her and her two children. She claimed Coppage had choked her.
For some unknown reason, Coppage was only charged with BURGLARY in the incident for the breaking and entering. I assume the victim was not entirely cooperative.
His address, listed on the criminal complaint, is 4661 Independence Ave., #202, New Hope, MN.
Linked By Blood To Murder Of Coppage Siblings
I have confirmed that Devonte Coppage is related to the Coppage family who were victims of the infamous gang-related firebombing incident which claimed the lives of five Coppage children, all siblings of Andrew Coppage.
Andre Coppage, who survived the incident, is on Facebook and identifies Devonte Coppage as his relative.

Here's a good in-depth article which also confirms the connection to the murder of those other Coppage family members.

Oh, I know, let's start a JNS fund to pay for his funeral!
ReplyDeleteHe was turning his life around....around the big roulette wheel in the sky.. debt paid...can't get another shot(pun intended)
ReplyDeleteI now right wtf are people thinkin. DONATE HA! I have heard talk of this stupidity, are you freakin serious. Really a Nomi Thug Death Trust, yeah right. Lets praise the sex offenders and idiots with animals outside, or the illegal dumpers get them some monuments. let me get right on that. The capt.
ReplyDeleteLast two posts: Red attire in one, black in the other. A factor?
ReplyDeleteThere is a fund the devonte coppage fund at tcf bank
ReplyDeleteWhen BLACK People Die Yall Seem To Focus More On The Bad Things They Did In There Life ! Yall Needa Stop Trynna Make It Seem Like DC Was Just A Bad Ass Persob Think About The Good Shut He Done Did Stop Alwats Focusing On The Bad Shit People Do .
ReplyDeleteWhy don't YOU list all the wonderful things he did, since you're so worried about it. Surely they won't require too many fingers.
DeleteOkay so how smart to you feel now? All of that isnt fact!!!! And as it seams you can only dig up negativity on devonte and his so called thug life as you call it did u know he graduated from high school fact he was in collage getting his business management degree to open a shoe store fact he was also an inspiring artist fact a young man with a dream not this thug life u claim off of judging and insinuating off of social networks and other public files you are tryna piece together with out full story or all facts to make a incriminating story on your blog about this young man who is dead and will never be able to tell his story on what really happened...BRAVO you connected him to the coppage killing ages ago and that has what to do this case that they are related? congratulations you proved your point not like that last name is common a toddler could figure that out
ReplyDeleteWell pin a rose on his nose for graduating high school! It speaks volumes about you, because you actually think that is something to get
Deletepatted on the back for. You probably are the type who thinks people deserve recognition for paying their child support for being good parents too, right?
Guess what sweety? YOU DON'T GET KUDOS IN LIFE FOR DOING EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO DO! He was SUPPOSED to graduate! Duh!
I'm so fed up with people who highlight the most BASIC and common things in peoples lives, as if it is something special. Millions of people graduate each year, that's what people do, yet you don't see them expecting praise for it.
Do you know who are the people who actually DO expect praise for it? The losers in life. The bums. The debate. The people who ain't got shit, ain't shit, and will never be shit, are the ones who think like that. You know why? Because it is so look normal to them because they never strive for shit, never contribute to shit, never the givers, always the takers and an overall stain on the butt of humanity. And when they do the tiniest of things, they go popping off about it like they deserve a f*cling medal for it.
Sound familiar?
Airing information about the criminal records of North Minneapolis homicide victims is not done on the basis of race but on the basis of being homicide victims with criminal records, in other words, the content of their character and not the color of their skin.
ReplyDeleteso are you implying that because they have criminal backgrounds that they deserve to be murdered????
DeleteWhich part are you asserting is not factual? Kindly point to the facts you feel are not facts. Keep in mind that if a statement is made something is ALLEGED, the FACT is was ALLEGED remains a FACT even if the underlying fact was merely an allegation.
ReplyDeleteWhat point are you trying to prove with his record that he deserved to die???? Im confused you saying all of this to say what?? Whats on your record????? Let the young man rest in piece!!!! Lets talk about the people who killed him are drug dealers murders from a family mob "famone" where do you get devonte was a thug from?
ReplyDeleteAlleged accused of but not proved of therefore not a fact!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou're talking in circles. The allegation is relevant and stands as an allegation that was made but not proven. As an allegation by authorities, it is relevant information. I am perfectly free to report on CHARGES that were made even if not proven. It is done all the time in the press.
ReplyDeleteDo you have some proof all the charges were, in fact, dismissed? If so, put the proof in front of me. Otherwise, quit talking in circles and try very hard to follow the relevant discussion. And maybe you'd care to address the things he was CONVICTED of, like being a THIEF?
Tell me all about these guys accused of killing him. Tell me everything you know. I'm interested. Link to relevant info, if you can, especially their Facebook pages which I've been trying like heck to find.
ReplyDeleteAnd what is your relevant discussion???? He derserved to die?
ReplyDeleteLet me summarize my point for you.
ReplyDeleteHe lived by the sword.
And by that same sword, he did die.
Do you know him personally??? How do you know he was living by the sword...lets speak on you and your drunkin habbits and dwi's
DeleteLet the first person without sin cast the first stone, all of the anonymous responders, have never comitted a crime, JNS is also blemish free im sure, there are people who dont get into arguments, steal, lie, cheat, fornicate, drink in access, eat too much, beat their kids, sleep with their children or even their pets, live with women they dont love, sleep with men, go over seas and kill who ever they want hiked up on dope, nahhh just slay those in the hood , they are the only bad people, RIGHT????
DeleteNo one has said any of these people deserved to die. But many will comment it is no surprise they died violently, considering the lives they led.
ReplyDeletethen consider how you have lived your life and how you will die
DeleteOnly cornball brothers live in New Hope. He wasn't no cornball brother.
ReplyDeleteNo one deserves to die, however this doesn't factor in circumstances.
ReplyDeleteIf you read the story 2, yes, TWO guns were recovered that were linked to this event.
Now you have Seals, whom has no police record or anything even relating to violence, then you have coppage, a long list of criminality.
Read between the lines, the 22 was found with no bullet in the chamber, and seals was shot once AFTER coppage hopped out.
He was just another thug, "going to college" means nothing.
And they have no evidence as of who the other gun belongs to....nore was any bullets found from another gun just the one the killer used to kill and shot hisself
DeleteHow about utilizing your efforts to make a change? Your blog does nothing to help these young kids put their life on track. You sit behind a computer and promote their flaws but nothing for their accomplishments. You poison the well with every last crumb you can dig up and beat down any chance of hope for a human life. Use a little more professionalism in your writing and take out the bias "under the table" opinions and maybe you can be taken seriously as a positive neighborhood watch figure.
ReplyDeleteBased upon what I'm reading of the circumstances of the shooting, here...
ReplyDeletehttp://www.twincities.com/localnews/ci_24853956/st-paul-shooting-victim-identified-3-arrested
One scenario which seems quite possible is that Seals' gun went off in his jacket, grazing him with a bullet. The gunshot caused Coppage to leap out of the car.
Thinking Coppage had just shot him and leaped out of the car, Seals shot Coppage with the gun he'd just used to ACCIDENTALLY SHOOT HIMSELF. Coppage had a gun, a .22, but it doesn't seem to have been fired.
Incredible that anybody would bring a gun to a $300 transaction, even an illegal one, but keep in mind these are the same clowns who pose with $300 in 20 dollar bills like they just bagged a ten-point buck; and pose with newly-acquired guns in photos even before they've learned how to put in the bullets. These are the same asshats whose lack of marksmanship skills kill small children in the vicinity while leaving their intended target unscathed.
Throw the book at Seals. Put him away for a long, long time. He's too stupid to be walking around with the possibility of passing on his genes.
Coincidentally there is a story on CNN detailing the Omaha Police Union posting of a FB video they claim shows the indoctrination of young kids (2 yr olds) into thug life. What it really is is child abuse, but for some reason, instead of acknowledging that using 34 different profanities to talk to and teach a toddler to use his middle finger, throw chairs and swear at adults is abuse, the whole conversation is instead derailed to some bullshit about race. I don't care what color these so-called parents are--anyone with a brain in their head, white, black, hispanic, asian, whatever, will agree that treating an infant so poorly will never end up well. Unfortunately this abuse plagues poor urban culture (of any color!!) but just like here, the problem will be ignored and shouted down by idiots who have an axe to grind. Let's just pretend all these kids getting shot in Mpls are innocent saints whose activities aren't leading them to trouble. Sure, whatever. It's a lot easier to just claim the people pointing this trend out over and over and over again are either racist or evil assholes gleefully cheering deserved deaths rather than taking some responsibility for your terrible parenting and life choices.
ReplyDeleteWe need to lobby for more chemical castrations.
ReplyDeletewasnt there enough chemicals put in when people we stressed out and feeling down or up went to their therapists because they were the children of TRUE MURDERERS and MONSTERS, then they got valium, and procreated with that in their system now we got adhd n asbergers and children with designer allergies who live in bubbles these are the same people who wwrite about the resukts of their ancestoes on the few, the proud, the poor, dealing with their situation as best as they can given the fact that systems are two blocks down thinking about how to set the system up to make their shit worse, hes better off than all of us because he is at peace and not concerned with the nastiness, unrighteousness, selfishness of this filthy flesh
DeleteEasy- Off oven cleaner for when the stains get really bad in the oven called North Minneapolis. The continuous cycle of cleaning does, at times, produce the desired results.
ReplyDeleteAlbeit, NOMI is basically a self cleaning oven, please use all of the assistance you need and I want to see nothing but assholes and elbows!!
Sincerely, Major Richard Parts- Fort Dix, N.J. U.S.ARMY
First of all, you can't even SPELL the word "habits."
ReplyDeleteSecondly, the fact he brought a gun to a drug deal is a sufficient example of "living by the sword." One need not go further into the extensive array of evidence of bad lifestyle choices which were equivalent to the term "living by the sword."
Third, I have no "drunken habits," have never been charged with let alone convicted of DWI, DUI, D Any Other Letter, people who know me are aware I range between mild to moderate drinker to complete abstainer for weeks, even months at a time unless I am making an effort to be sociable. Your statement is false and I only publish it for purposes of kicking out the metaphorical stool out from under your metaphorical butt.
They had a gun to Johnny what about that
DeleteWhere does it state that the gun belonged to the victim?????
ReplyDeleteIn regard to "they had a gun to" by which I assume you mean "they had a gun TOO," note correct spelling and usage of "too" versus "to"...
ReplyDeleteYes, one of them had a gun. The other two, well, they seem pretty involved as well. At that moment they were living no better than Devonte Coppage, but their criminal records aren't anywhere near the same level from what I can see.
If Antonio Seals did what he's accused of doing then he's no better than Coppage, and he is somewhat worse, because he killed Coppage. But between Coppage and Seals, hard to tell which one was the worse dirt big. Coppage allegedly brought a gun to the transaction, too. (Note spelling and usage) On a different day, it would have been Coppage shooting Seals.
Two (note usage) peas in a pod.
I went to watch a fight the other night and a hockey game broke out! I went to a gun fight with me Buck Knife...I went to a drug deal, shot myself....and the chemical castration is really the "purple drank" so bring it on!
ReplyDeleteIn regard to "where does it say the gun belonged to the victim," if you read the news accounts there was a loaded (but no round chambered) .22 caliber gun dropped in the parking lot next to the two bags of weed. Victim was shot with a .38, and the shooter was shot in the arm with the SAME .38, all this according to police and news accounts.
ReplyDeleteCoppage told his brother he DID NOT bring a gun with him, but a gun turned up.
It is possible the gun found in the parking lot was another gun brought by the crew in Seals' car, but seems more likely it was brought to the scene by Coppage, who didn't tell his brother the truth about having a gun in his possession. But ultimately we'll get our answers from the court system.
Thank you for your Pin A Rose On His Nose Manifesto, anonymous commenter.
ReplyDeleteWhat word was intended by "f*cling?"
Andrea Abla is the seals sister also derrick Parker baby momma .. dig up some info on them
ReplyDeleteI ran the name "Andrea Abla" through the criminal side of MNCIS and didn't even turn up a speeding ticket. On the civil side I turned up one eviction action. Not even worth writing about. Give me something better.
ReplyDeleteI ran the name "Andrea Abla" through the criminal side of MNCIS and didn't even turn up a speeding ticket. On the civil side I turned up one eviction action. Not even worth writing about. Give me something better.
ReplyDeleteJust a few words of advice from someone who actually cares about the community I live in, who has a degree in business administration and a second degree in interpersonal communal actions.
ReplyDeleteIF you want to be taken seriously, first off...
Criticizing another's spelling or grammar is a childish action and lowers the opinion of the one who does so in the readers eye. Even if the author who misspells words is a complete and total idiot, criticizing their lack of education or proper grammar unaligned the reader who would have agreed with your point of view and sets them against you, actively working against the author who is criticizing.
Don't take your assumptions of a situation from the press, they post the information in such a way to get the best emotional response from each piece.
Don't assume ones past is who they are today. Assumptions are the death of anyone who wishes to be taken seriously because one, just one wrong proven assumption can undermine all others and even call into question actual facts all because one assumption was made. IF we were to do that, we could call someone who claims to be an "Afghan war vet" mentally unstable and put forth all the documentation showing how a large percentage of all vet's have one form of PTSD(for those of you who don't know, that's Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) or another, we could put forth your comments on how you attempted to defend yourself against earlier alcohol accusations saying, and I quote from your own post earlier in here "people who know me are aware I range between mild to moderate drinker to complete abstainer for weeks, even months at a time unless I am making an effort to be sociable." Posted as such readers could very easily call you an alcoholic shut in and out of touch with reality. They could easily claim your alcohol usage and rationalization of its use as a confirmation of a PTSD. A community is build by interaction of the occupants of that neighborhood. people who need to "drink to make an attempt to be sociable" are definable alcoholics. Now if we use press actions and definitions, like you are so fond of attempting to hide behind, "alcoholics are a scourge on our society". "They are the leading cause of divorce", "the leading cause of automotive deaths and property damage in the state of Minnesota". All actual quotes from the Star and Tribune. Further more, anyone who has any experience in dealing with psychology whether its as occupation or client (many have used AA) could relate that definable alcoholics are antisocial by clinical definition, and those who are antisocial set themselves outside the community by those antisocial actions.
So now I need to ask... since you shows signs of antisocial and of being a risk to the community, what makes you think you are in the position to make assumptions about anyone else based on non first hand information?
I am not even touching on the negative effect that spreading 1 persons third hand information filled with assumptions is doing to the entire local community that is exposed to it. Before you try to claim everything you post is forth-write, please read further up your own postings and remember where you made the assumption that the kid brought a weapon but later on in the same post here said it is possible it wasn't his only stating "but seems more likely" which is your opinion, not fact.
Do you wish to be taken seriously? if so, drop the failed attempt at boasting in your own personal qualifications and stop making assumptions about what you read. No one with an education would use others research with only partial information and already has a bias limitation of information for their own research material.
Please stop posting your opinion as if its fact. The contradictions revealed undermines any credibility the intent of the original post may have had.
ReplyDeleteNo one who actually has an education would use the research of someone else to post their own opinion of a scenario they didn't wittiness themselves. such as using a community paper or television news broadcast since the populace already knows they edit their information and release it only how they feel it will get the best response from the public to boost their rating.
That should be "reader's eye."
ReplyDeleteNote possessive apostrophe.
Second, anonymous commenters can claim to have as many advanced degrees as they like, but this would be a textbook instance where Northside's Law needs to apply.

Third...
Oh, heck, I don't care to argue with your little Manifesto of Crap point by point, Jill or Peggy or whoever is writing this. Jump in a lake.
I would say nice response to obvious truths. But a cop out isnt. Try actually reading whats put forth and applying it to your life. Your so called Northside's Law is just a rational reinforcing your own denial being used to rationalize your own thoughts.
ReplyDeleteSince you seem to have such an obsession with proper spelling and punctuation, chue onn al wurds misspalt hir fer you're problum.
What psychological help are you getting for your PTSD?
now you only post forward the comments that you figure you can dispute or write off as BS from someone else?
ReplyDeleteif you arnt already seeking psychological help, I suggest you start. your assumptions and rationalizations attempt to place you in the community but have little to no real foundation. assumptions never really do.
and no, I am not Jill or Peggy, who ever they are.
so please, keep posting ignorant assumptions arrived at threw third party information. I'd love to watch the next court session against you.
"Through."
ReplyDeleteNote correct spelling. Where did you buy those degrees again? An internet diploma mill?
