What Does It Mean? Another Music Video By "Mental Mid" Shows "Ty Crack" Bracelet, Appears To Reference Death Of Tyrone Washington In Epic Nightclub Gang Murder...

YouTube embed, the blog post is by John Hoff

Following up on red hot discussion about a music video called "Kobe Diss" which has shattered all viewership stats for this blog, and purportedly references the murder of Tyrone "Ty Crack" Washington, I have spent some time reviewing other music videos by "Mental Mid" posted on YouTube.

Most of the videos are just rapping about hood activities, and are interesting only because street signs and landmarks such as the dreadful Wally's "inconvenience store" on Penn Ave. N. can be recognized.

However, the video embedded above, "No Competition," is clearly making reference to the Tyrone Washington murder just like the "Kobe Diss" video. In fact, at 2 minutes, 45 seconds a bracelet of some kind is displayed with...

...the name "Ty Crack." It appears to have a date of birth and a date of death.

If I'm not mistaken, the video goes so far as to mock the mother of a murder victim who misses her son. Then again...is any of this real? Or is it all art? Just because Bruce Springsteen sings about how he was sent to Vietnam "to go and kill the yellow man" doesn't mean he ever served a day in the army.

The words to "No Competition" are actually clear enough to understand, but the meaning isn't always clear. Pieces of meaning can be caught, though. There is talk about a "quiet dude" and how "everybody knows" what is meant about a "quiet dude." (Yes, everybody knows that. It's the quiet ones you have to watch out for)

This rap music appears to belong to a kind of "true murder" genre, which deliberately shatters the line between art and, well...

Evidence.

There is a sort of handwritten list that keeps appearing in the background and contains names. Some of the names might be murder victims. But I find it hard to determine if this is a bragging list of victims or some kind of rough draft of grievances.

"Everybody knows" compliments about gangster rap have to be virtually ripped from my throat, but I will say both the music and the videos show technical skill. And there is an undeniable panache to putting a video out in the world that is just as likely to be reviewed by the Minneapolis homicide unit as by music critics.

So, you know, feel free to discuss. Hard to tell who will show up at the door first: music producer with a contract or cops with an arrest warrant. But anybody who says, "Damn the consequences, full speed free speech ahead" has to win a certain grudging admiration from Johnny Northside.

But...

Is any of this The Truth? Are you spitting the truth or just spinning a lie?

  2. All it means is you found something that you think will bring readers to your blog so you're going to exploit it so you can make more money.
If you really were a true community activist you'd do more than blog.

  3. Make money? What on earth makes you think this blog makes enough money to make it worth the effort if it was ONLY about making money?

As for being a "fan," I'm a fan of getting murders solved. If the other side of the conflict has their own music video in response to "Kobe Diss" and "No Competition," I am committed to putting those videos in front of my readers and having a discussion in the same way as these videos. Not only am I not taking sides, it's hard to even figure out what the sides are.

  5. Because you can pay for analytical sites that give stats that show click counts.
Based on Google blogger rates it's not too hard to estimate your revenue.
You must actually believe your own lies, but those of us who investigate lies and criminal behavior know better.
Knowing your revenue, you must put a ridiculous value on your efforts.
Why don't you just ask your roommate the PI. If he is actually a licensed PI he should be able to pull up your analytics and estimate your revenue.
We do it all the time in child support cases, when deadbeat dads say that have no money.
    BTW you're behind.

  6. If he the video of the murder really does exist, maybe these dumbshits will include it in their next rap video.

  7. You are do fucking dumb anony. 10:21. Do you really believe stat sites can PROVE revenue? What firm or government agency do you work for? Your license should be pulled if you actually believe what you say.

  8. They already did include it in their next video which is called "Kobe Diss". They clearly get some kick out of disrespecting the dead not to mention the fact that if Tye was still alive these clowns wouldn't of ever came out with neither songs. Being real cute trying to a video in the 1-9 hood. Anyone that loves Tye just wants justice because of the cowardly way they went about killing him. Bitch don't get out your body now cause n199as is locked up and you know them is the only real GOONS!!!! I pray that they all get what's going to them. RIP to a legend Tye Crack 19.

  9. Of course you can be paid for your blog site, hell I and a few others I know our paid from ours, with Adsense and a whole host of other different methods one can receive some sort of income from blogging, this Anglo-Saxon mindset, along with the subminal actions are recognized among the conscious. Once again the black man must step up and come together self degradation is not the key to true success and freedom

  10. In regard to the bracelet and whether it was included in "Kobe Diss," I can see quite clearly that one of the participants in the video is wearing some kind of similar bracelet, but I can't get a good look to see if it's the same one. Is the bracelet referenced in the lyrics?

AND WHAT ARE THE LYRICS ANYWAY? I would really appreciate if somebody who can make out the lyrics would write that stuff in a comment.

  14. Here is a question for all the commenters on this thread.

OK, I understand there is a "No Snitching" Code of the streets. Fine. I get that.

But riddle me this: if (let us suppose) somebody committed a murder but then afterward bragged about it, dissed the victim's mother in a song, made a "championship bracelet" to wear with the victim's name, and tried to use all this to get fame and fortune in the rap business...

Can he seriously expect that the Code of the Streets will be followed? Doesn't dissing the victim's mother and tormenting the family with a video somehow negate (cancel out) the obligation to honor the Code of the Streets?

Call it the No Dissing The Victim's Mother In A YouTube Rap Video Exception To the Code of the Streets.

That's the nature of rules. Rules are not perfect. There are exceptions.

    So whoever knows something...

Are you not morally released from the Code of the Streets? Can you not come forward? What would your mother say? What would your church pastor say? What would Jesus say?

  15. They didnt make the bracelets(so its not a championship bracelet) Tyrone family had like 500 made for friends and family.they some how got it and wore it n the video to disrespect tye. But how did they get on is the question? To many people playing both sides.

  16. Jonny, kibbie dumb ass definitely didn't make that bracelet. There are more than just that one he shows in his video that he got from one of these fuck bitches or n199as. He is totally and utterly disrespectful to the deceased. Idk about the code of the streets these dudes been snitching on each other for years definitely don't think anything is going to change now. I will tell you this GOD is NOT pleased at all. NO one is ever ok to take someone life and for him to gloat is just pure ignorance on his part. I am not saying that Tye was a saint but can someone tell me who HE killed??? Not his crew, don't worry I will wait. Make sure it's a fact too.

  17. Johnny northside go look on mental mid facebook page he got your picuture up there and it say IM ON YO ASS. Mental mid real name is Anthony Joshua Brown

  18. Yeah, I'm not seeing what you say is on his page. And the phrase "I'm on your ass" is vague. Mental Mid has a First Amendment right to free expression. If he has something critical to say about me, so be it.

  19. Jonny, don't be stupid they are low key threatening you for outing them on your site!!! Free expression my ass. They been posting these videos and sneak comments on fb, twitter and instgram. NOT ever did it go viral
