Embed of "What I Do" by Mental Mid, blog post by John Hoff
JNS blog has now confirmed with more specificity the reason a rap concert by "Young Dro" was cancelled yesterday at The Venue. Using a "Who Is Talking" search device I managed to find Facebook conversation by Getdown Theprinceknati Olahdenn, who is involved in the music industry and appears to have some direct or indirect role with the cancelled Young Dro concert...
"Getdown" labels himself as the business owner and manager of Top Notch Boss Gorilla Muzic LLC. (Sic)
On Facebook, he wrote the concert was cancelled "due to threats of retaliation from incident @ last yo gotti concert at epic in Mpls MN." (Sic) In a second posting, he also duplicated the information I was provided by somebody answering the phone at The Venue; that the new place to party on Saturday night was Hunan's in St. Paul.
This still does not confirm where, specifically, the threats were aired but everything I can see points to conversations on this blog between warring gang factions upset over (take your pick) the death of Tyrone Washington or a perceived "diss" in two music videos by Mental Mid, one of which clearly references the death of Washington.
Indeed, this new information links the threats which shut down "Young Dro" with the specific incident at Epic: the homicide of Tyrone Washington, known on the streets as "Ty Crack."
A word of explanation about the embedded video, above. This is "What I Do" by Mental Mid, which can be fairly described as a less controversial song. It does not have the mad genius of "Kobe Diss" and "No Competition" which smashes the line between art and evidence, yet "What I Do" is the same incredibly polished music video product.
JNS blog has also confirmed the Facebook page of "Prince Kibbie," who was one of the individuals featured in the music videos has gone offline. I have also been directed to some music by allies of Tyrone Washington referencing his death which I intend to air in the near future to give both sides fair exposure of their artistic expression.
JNS blog continues to urge political and/or religious leaders of stature (as opposed to self-serving bums) to step up to the plate and broker a truce.

ReplyDeleteJhonny have you ever heard of eugean fort..you need to do somthing about that...spike moss, and rev.macrafee knows eugean is innocent but they sold him out for money.......the real killer is a guy named paul reec,or rice im not sure but he be at jhonny babys, a club in st.Paul blabbin to my crackhead uncle, about the whole thing
ReplyDeleteAfter somebody sent me an email I did look into the Eugene Fort thing. I didn't see anything worth writing. And I certainly wasn't going to write the allegations in the email that a police officer was somehow allied with one of the city's gangs; that's just stupid. The conviction was not overturned on appeal because none of the witnesses were people that had any credibility. So some crackhead was blabbing about who-knows-what? That's what crackheads do. It's their nature. That doesn't make it evidence to overturn a murder conviction which was on the basis of forensic evidence including drops of the victim's blood found where they didn't exactly belong.
ReplyDeleteBut, you know, there's free speech here so please, say what you want about that case. I'm happy to allow the discussion.
Johnny you live in a fantasy world where everything is black and white. Where every police officer does the right thing and everyone who is accused of something is wrong... remember rodney king? Or maybe u forgot that every major mob crime family had or has judges and police on payroll. Your ignorance astounds me. Cops are not some morally sound cyborg creation. They are 70% of the time regular human beings with power and control issues.
DeleteThe convicted murderer Eugene Erick Fort in Stillwater (http://coms.doc.state.mn.us/publicviewer/Inmate.asp?OID=196215) is apparently the nephew of infamous Chicago gang leader Jeff Fort.
ReplyDeletehttp://chicagocrimescenes.blogspot.com/2009/12/jeff-fort-family-tree.html
Eugene Fort, nephew and son of Eugene Fort, brother (born c. 1972)
Active in Minneapolis crack trade during the early 1990s. Was chief suspect in 1990 murder of 11-year old boy Marcus Potts, who was at home alone while his house was being burglarized. A trail of footprints in the snow from the boy's home led police back to Eugene Fort's house, where traces of the boy's blood were found. However, the evidence was not strong enough to convict in court, and so the case was not brought to trial for 15 years, when DNA testing technology had advanced to the point where the blood could be more authoritatively matched. Eugene Fort was convicted of murder in 2007, though a new trial was briefly considered in 2007 based on the apparent jailhouse confession of his cousin Paul Rice. However, Fort's conviction was upheld.
Paul Rice, nephew and son of Merriam Rice, sister (born ?)
After the conviction of his cousin Eugene Fort in the murder of an 11-year old boy, Rice supposedly bragged to jail inmates that he had "killed a little boy" on at least two occasions. On this basis, Eugene Fort received a hearing to determine whether a new trial was warranted, though Fort's conviction was subsequently upheld.
Hello readers im a friend of the fort_rice family, i was at a cook out last summer at a park over north and i seen both family argue about this. Apparently paul told his momma years ago and she been telling the fort family that she was go report it but she never did..i watched members of the fort family confront her, she agreed she was going to help...o jhonny i worked in the system for years and i can smell somthing wrong here...ps ill testify to what seen...

To the commenter in question I say: If the police have any concerns about what I am doing, they know where to get ahold of me in a red hot second. Maybe wannabe police should let the police and (for that matter) the blogger do his job.
