ADDENDUM, FEBRUARY 20: This blog post originally described Antonio Timberlake as one of the "turd burglars" arrested at the scene of a Thanksgiving robbery. In fact, Timberlake was NOT involved in that robbery. Rather, he was associated with Navarr Ross--a known and convicted member of the turd burglarly ring--and committed eleven armed robberies, and in one of those robberies Ross was an accoplice. JNS blog strives for accuracy and when error comes to my attention, I jump to make correction.

In a press release today by the Hennepin County Attorney, that office announced a "straight guilty plea" to 11 charges by Antonio Timberlake, age 17. The eleven charges stemmed from four separate robbery incidents. There was no deal with prosecutors and Timberlake could receive up to 172 months. Two of the victims received life-threatening stab wounds.

Timberlake had some criminal fame rub off upon him by being associated with Navarr Ross, who was involved in the burglary of a Northside home. Neighbors (one wearing superhero pajamas) assisted police in keeping a passel of juvenile burglars trapped in a house until just moments before...

...police arrived. This blog has followed the stinking trail of the turd burglars ever since, as some of them (I hope it's not all of them) have gotten into more trouble. The name for the burglars, by the way, came from an unspeakable act one of them committed in the house they were attempting to burglarize .

Navarr Ross, one of the original turd burglars, was also involved in just one of the 11 robberies committed by Antonio Timberlake. In fact, the press release makes it sound like Ross was somehow the "weak link," since THAT was the robbery where Timberlake was taken into custody. Here's the wording of the press release, judge for yourself:

The only incident that was different, and which led to Timberlake’s arrest, was a robbery of three juveniles in the Southdale Mall parking lot on March 30. Timberlake and the 13-year-old were joined by Navarr Ross, 18, of Minneapolis. The three stole a cell phone and a backpack. They fled into a nearby neighborhood where police arrested all three.

The press release notes Ross was convicted in December of two counts of aggravated robbery and sentence to 68 months in prison. Here's his mug shots from MN DOC.

Though it is certainly not the habit of this blog to make excuses for criminal behavior, I will point out Timberlake's father appears to have been absent from his life at key moments--this observation admittedly based upon a single charging document--and the surname "Timberlake" is an infamous "North Minneapolis crime family" name. This kid never had many chances in life but apparently failed to capitalize upon what few he had, like public schooling and one of the best social welfare systems in the world if not the galaxy.

However, Timberlake is a dangerous and remorseless monster now--like the "child soldiers" in countries like Liberia--and he needs to be locked up for as long as possible with a bunk, toilet and--(this is very important in this instance) a very adequate supply of bathroom tissue.

  2. Just curious...when you write about "timberlake dick" is there a reason you used a small "t" instead of a large "t?"

  3. If I were you Johnny I'd be careful. The families you antagonize on the north side through your blog do have your home address and phone number.

  4. They never call, they never write...

It's like they don't show me any love at all.

Also, I get the feeling that even if my blogging makes some criminal elements angry, that anger is mixed with a certain pride their "achievements" are given recognition on this blog.

  5. Cameras, legally carried guns, and rich white people. Things some in North Minneapolis fear the most!

  6. I would tend to think pleading guilty like that is a sign that he was, like, "Fuck it, I don't care" and perhaps he preferred his own cell where he could have personal items and so forth rather than being in a big common area in the jail. There was no mention of any remorse in the Hennepin County Press release. I haven't heard of any remorseful statement at the sentencing. If you know something, point me to that information.

Nothing you have said rebuts the "Timberlake Crime Family" assertion, as "crime family" is understood in the context of a MINNEAPOLIS discussion: certain families who are disproportionally involved in criminal activity, both as perpetrators and victims.

As for all that "cultural identity" stuff, well, I do sense your pain but there is more than one notion of black cultural identity out there. It is not valid to say these youth only have ONE CHOICE and that choice is the "thug life." I served in the military with inner city black kids who chose a different kind of life and identity.

But that kind of discussion about cultural identity is not my forte. I would prefer not to go deeply into that topic. Don Samuels makes much more articulate points about cultural identity and questions like that, heck, I would defer to him for his insight.

This supposed "good kid" Antonio, well, his actions speak for themselves. If there was ever a sweet little boy inside of him, that child is dead and replaced by a glassy eyed monster who robs, burglarizes and stabs. Only Jesus can help him now and I hope he finds Jesus somewhere in that big dark cage of prison.

  7. As for the "calling people disrespectful names," what exactly SHOULD we call somebody like Navarr Ross who breaks into an elderly woman's house and commits an unspeakable act with their own human SHIT? Where was the RESPECT for that woman? And after writing his fake-ass "apology" to that woman, what did Navarr Ross do?

Robbed somebody. With Antonio as his accomplice. Which makes Antonio, to my way of thinking, an "honorary" turd burglar by his voluntary criminal association with Navarr Ross.

So a phrase like "turd burglar" is a loud rebuttal to how these young men would like to characterize themselves and position themselves in the face of society: Look at me, I'm a BAD ASS. A GANGSTER. A THUG. A TOUGH GUY. HELL YEAH!!!!

    No, they are TURD BURGLARS.

And "honorary" turd burglars. Or is it "dis-honorary?"

  9. The potential for doing good never does. Labeling someone as a monster further proves that you fail to see the good that exists in anyone. Ever. Remorse does not have to be recorded to be there. It doesn't have to be something the press has to document and say, "Yup, he's sorry alright!" You're a fool to think that people can't own up to their own actions on their own accord and try to accept the punishment for it.

I never said that "thug life" is the only option. I said misinformation breeds misinformation. I was fortunate enough to dodge that bullet and had a mother who kept me off the streets and in the books. Not everyone has parents like mine. It's not fair for you to say that, because you served with inner city black kids, that everyone has the opportunity to escape that cycle. When you live in a community where acting thuggish makes you black, when rap music tells you that criminal activity makes you black, how would you react as a troubled teen?

Nobody disrespected you. Why would you disrespect anyone else? Antonio didn't do shit to you. Yes, it IS heart breaking to hear that these kids did what they did. Yes, it IS disappointing to know that kids are doing things like this to prove some kind of point but, that does NOT make them monsters.

I read your comment to Antonio's mother in another post and you have no right to just assume who his father is or what his past may be. My father was a criminal. Does that mean I'm destined to be one? Does that mean that I should be treated I'll by people like you??

If you want to improve our community, then do something positive! Talk about positive things and encourage positivity in the North Side! Your judgement and finger pointing does nothing more than prove that you don't truly respect the law or, you wouldn't be abusing your First Amendment right of freedom of speech to cyber bully people.

  10. Seriously? You're blaming RAP MUSIC for this?

You're right, not everybody has good parents. Some parents actually teach and encourage criminal behavior. And there needs to be a public policy focus on the families where that appears to be happening, based on how many of them are accumulating criminal records.

    Families like the TIMBERLAKE family.
