Dashaunta Dmar Gomez, a young felon and a member of the most infamous crime family in North Minneapolis, plus a chronic Facebook crotch grabber (see, above, Exhibit A) has ended up about where many of us have expected him to end up for the last couple years: sitting in jail charged with murder.
City Councilman Don Samuels ran for mayor on a platform of doing something about multi-generation crime families like the Gomez family (Samuels didn't mention the Gomez's by name but we all knew exactly who Samuels was talking about) but Samuels didn't win the election. No sensible focus by Mayor Hodges on the issue of crime families has taken place, and now another murder has been committed (allegedly) by a member of a prominent crime family.
While it is not confirmed that Gomez is sitting in jail over the murder of Johnathon J. "Jada" Harris...
...the timing of the arrest seems to point to that, as does the fact an unnamed co-conspirator triggerman was mentioned in the criminal complaint against Demiteras Cooper, as does the fact one or more anonymous commenters got on this blog half a dozen times and asserted DaShaunta was a fugitive in the murder; though none cited any proof.
The jail roster shows Gomez arrested on March 5 and charged with second degree murder, not premeditated, possessing a pistol or assault rifle after being adjudicated for a crime of violence, (hardly young Gomez's first ride at the rodeo even where THAT charge is concerned) theft and giving a police officer a false name. He is being held on a million and a half dollars bail. The address of 3341 Oliver Ave. N., previously linked to the Gomez brood, once again appears on the jail roster as the nesting place of this particular Gomez. The property is a rental owned by Kevin L. Stevensen of Waconia, Minnesota, though the taxpayer is listed as Twins National Land Trust.
Interestingly, (well, OK, it's only mildly interesting) in September of 2011 the property listing showed it was owned by both Kevin Stevenson and a Christine Stevensen. JNS blog can't help but wonder if this is some kind of routine property shuffle that shows up in the city's online records or if there is trouble in Slumlordia, a notable lack of wedded bliss.
Hmmmmmm.
Slumlords would do well to stay out of North Minneapolis and not dream in dollar signs attached to my neighborhood as we struggle to pull ourselves upward. Your slummy names will surely end up on this blog, as surely as DaShaunta Dmar Gomez was headed for jail on murder charges the moment he was born to that uncontrolled nest of criminal vipers known as the Gomez family.*
Thanks to the anonymous commenter who pointed me to the jail roster, though your reference to non-consensual jailhouse sex was completely gratuitous.
* Rumor has it there are some members of the Gomez family who don't have criminal records.**
** Yet.

Don Samuels was all talk. The only thing he was interested in was funneling money to his wife Sondra's non-profit. Samuels is a blowhard, and the Mayoral election shows how much he was despised by his own neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteIf you look at the actual election results instead of relying on the rusty cogs turning in your off-kilter brain, Don Allen or whoever left that comment, Don Samuels had widespread support. Many who didn't cast first choice ballots for him in our bizarre Minneapolis voting system cast second and third-choice ballots for him, showing he had broad support and respect even from those who didn't pick him as first choice. I am already hoping he runs again, because so far it seems like our neighborhood is going to hell in a hand basket since the moment the new administration swore in.
ReplyDeleteThis Gomez dude is a coward, cold hearted, and didn't have nothing to lose. He comes from a dysfunctional family. He's in the perfect place right now and for the rest of his life. JAIL!
ReplyDeleteSounds like another case where if he'd been appropriately sentenced before for "prohibited person in possession" a mrder might have been avoided. Where are NoMi's legislators on proposing legislation to REQUIRE true mandatory minimum sentences for "prohibited person in possession"? Remember that a person is only "prohibited" because of a crime they'd committed. Going on to possess a gun is not a first offense. Where are NoMi's legislators???
ReplyDeleteNoMi's legislators, you say?
ReplyDeleteWell, let's see. Bobby Joe Champion is a criminal defense attorney and Dehn never met a thug he didn't want to hug. There's your legislators for you.
MURDERAPOLIS the sequel. I agree with you wholeheartedly about your hell in a hand basket statement. This time around we get the 21st century version.
ReplyDeleteSo NoMi voters who elect those guys are voting to maintain a status quo where armed criminals are free to roam their neighborhood. Check. Sounds like it's past time for the decent citizens of NoMi to get out and leave it to the criminals and those (their relatives) who coddle them. Sad situation, but no one from outside (or inside) can fix it if most of the people in the neighborhood like it the way it is, going so far as to vote in idiots who care more about giving thugs unending "chances" than getting armed criminals off of the streets.
ReplyDeleteYou just want Samuels back so he can protect you from inspections. Not gonna happen.
ReplyDeleteNoth Minneapolis...is no longer the name..we call it the dead zone!!!..it's sad...90 out of a 100..black men ages 14-30 will be dead or in jail for the rest of there lives!...it is truly out of control over on the north side/ dead zone..hopefully one day the police will get it under control!..it's almost summer & crystal lake cemetery is getting full..after this summer!..i don't think they will have eney more room..smdh..
ReplyDeleteHard to tell but, is he holding a joint in his other non-crotch hand?
ReplyDeletethe police can't save the north side they are part of the problem. and samuels or anyone else should not play the name game, just leave us GOMEZ ALONE AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT WHAT'S in someones hand WORRY about yourself and WHAT YOU can do to help not make matters worse
