Nitelen Jackson, whose arrest record is so long that one of my readers claims it broke the bottom of his computer monitor, is sitting in jail tonight after police managed to link his DNA and a latent print to a couple of weapons recovered at 4017 Lyndale Ave. N.
Click here for the criminal complaint.
In an utterance preserved in the criminal complaint allegations, Jackson claims he's never so much as touched a weapon after becoming a felon. According to the Hennepin County Prosecutor's Office, a link between Nitelen Jackson and the two guns started after police were called to 4017 Lyndale Ave. N. on a report of unusual and disturbing circumstances...
Before I get into the missing woman upstairs, the blood and the shots fired through the floor, let me just say something about Kana Properties, LLC...
This is the same slumlord entity that owns 4034 Girard Ave. N., which was the reported address of accused murderer Cory J. Bryant. I just got done writing something about Bryant, like, a couple hours ago. I tell you, Kana Properties is rapidly achieving notorious slumlord status in North Minneapolis.
Anyway, it was January 2 and police were called to 4017 Lyndale Ave. N. because there were two bullet holes in the ceiling of the lower unit which appeared to have come from the upstairs unit. Police were able to find the two spent bullets near a computer desk. The owner of the building said he hadn't seen the lady upstairs for a month and when rent was collected, it was paid by an unknown man. Furthermore, there appeared to be blood on the shared stairway.
Police didn't find anybody home in the upper unit but found a live rifle round on the floor, a bullet hole in a wall between the living room and the kitchen, and spent .40 caliber casings on the floor of the living room. Police located a Glock .40 caliber pistol and an AK-47 rifle between the mattress and the box spring.
For reference purposes, here's what an AK-47 looks like. Here's a friend of mine, an Afghan security guard at Forward Operating Base Gardez, Afghanistan, holding one.

There's a whole story behind this photo but I'm not getting into it at the moment. Note this AK-47 has a folding stock ("rifle butt") but often AK-47s have standard wooden butts. The sling is optional but very necessary when you have to carry a rifle around for a long time...
Anyway, police at the scene found blood splatter in the kitchen and leading down to a basement storage area. A magazine for the Glock was found in a hallway closet and a fingerprint on the magazine matched the print on file for Nitelen Jackson. Some DNA tests were performed and DNA on the Glock was linked to Jackson. The AK-47 was more difficult; five people had handled it. Nitelen's DNA could not be excluded but, then again, neither could the DNA of 57 percent of the population.
Despite some speculation that was passed my way and which I repeated (as mere speculation) there was no mention in the criminal complaint of a Facebook photo showing Nitelen Jackson proudly holding a pistol which was NOT a Glock. (Oh, yes, the photo was real but it doesn't seem to be linked to these new charges, at least not yet)
As for all that blood and the woman who couldn't be found, well, the criminal complaint doesn't shed any light upon that. Maybe somebody can ask Kana Properties LLC if she's been around to pay her rent recently.

There is absolutely no evidence that his print and/or DNA was put on this gun after he became a prohibited person. If this is all the evidence they have against him, its a slam dunk for Nitelan and his lawyer.
ReplyDeleteI think Homer wants off that t-shirt.
ReplyDeleteAlso, how is burning a $1 and not the $20 or $100 a sign of thug badassery? D'oh!
Free my bestfriend !
ReplyDeleteTo the first commenter:
ReplyDeleteOh, really? The jury is going to believe the weapon sat around for years with that print? And the print and DNA goes all the way back to BEFORE he was a felon?
The criminal complaint contains enough evidence to charge him. I'm sure even more evidence will appear. Best of luck to Nitelen when that Facebook photo goes in front of the jury and he tries to explain how it was a long, long time ago.
The landlord should know who she is. If she's the legal tenant, he probably has her SS#, which lead to any earnings or gov't benefits. Sounds like she may have met an untimely demise. To be determined...
ReplyDeleteSo how old would he have been before he was a felon? Old enough to possess the weapon? Try harder.

Anon at 7:04 p.m. -- Not just holding the bigger bills in the other hand, but holding the butane lighter in the hand with the burning George. My experience has always been lighting something to smoke is easy enough with a butane lighter, so if you hold one, what's your point with George?
ReplyDeleteMaybe he tried to light up once with the Glock. Watch how you point that thing whey you try lighting up, eh?
ReplyDeleteif you so bad you outta be lightin' up with a Benjamin, sissy bitch

"A Facebook profile under one of his nicknames is peppered with photos of Smith and tributes to the young man.
“RIP Big Bro,” reads a caption on one photo, posted April 7, of a man wearing jeans and a dark hooded sweatshirt who appears to be Smith. “Forever In My Heart Mourn Till We Join You General. . . ”
Another photo shows a tribute spray-painted at the centre of a community basketball court in Dixon Park. “R.I.P. RONDO,” it reads.
Rondo was one of Smith’s nicknames.
The two men were shot outside Loki Lounge nightclub on King St. W. near Portland St., sometime after 2:30 a.m. on March 28."
Talk about an oh shit moment.
