One week ago, I had word that Tom Evenstad, the "chatline rapist" now charged with new and shocking crimes, was NOT being held in Regions Hospital. At least one informed source I spoke to was under the impression Evenstad was no longer committed and would be returning to the Ramsey County Jail.

The information Evenstad was no longer at Regions was good. But it turns out that fact did NOT actually end the mental commitment. 

The latest word I'm hearing right now from a different source is...

Despite a mental commitment proceeding that could have put Thomas Evenstad under the observation of health care professionals for as long as six months, click here for previous article, today JNS blog learned from a reliable source of information that Evenstad has been released from the secure facility at Regions Hospital and he's back in jail.

Scouring the Hennepin County Jail Roster reveals Joseph Alan Ohlgren, (DOB 10/14/79) a Northside resident who reportedly lives at 2406 James Ave. N., has been arrested on some kind of "possession of pornography" charge.

ADDENDUM, APRIL 21: The commitment in question didn't last a week, let alone six months, see story published today, April 21. 

JNS blog doesn't like to merely re-report a story in the mainstream media, even though I had the story about mental commitment hearings for "chatline rapist" Thomas Evenstad all to myself for a couple days. But now at least one mainstream media entity has jumped back into the fray and reported the sudden development of Thomas Evenstad being mentally committed for six months, click here for an excellent and detailed article in the Pioneer Press.

In the meantime, thanks to an anonymous commenter (thank you!) JNS blog has a new and relevant piece of information to add to the story by the Pioneer Press:

It was one year ago JNS blog wrote about the very last of a group of Thanksgiving "turd burglars" entering a guilty plea, click here, and that last one to plea was Navarr Ross. 

The burglars, who broke into the home of an elderly and respected Northside senior citizen on Thanksgiving day, 2012, were dubbed "turd burglars" because of a disgusting act, best left undescribed, which one of the burglars committed in the bathroom before a spontaneous posse of Northside neighbors, one wearing superhero pajamas, trapped the burglars in the house long enough for police to catch every one of them...

Everything I am hearing keeps confirming what a high-placed "Little Birdie" told this blogger; that a recent dramatic "car climbs a light pole to get away from gunfire" incident in North Minneapolis involved the son of NAACP President Jerry McAfee, long a fixture in North Minneapolis politics and society. Despite the jokey headline, this blog is not clear who was actually or allegedly at the wheel and did the miraculous job of "parking" a car sideways against a light pole. 

I couldn't have pulled that off if I tried, over and over, a hundred times. IT'S A MIRACLE!!!!

Julian McAfee, pictured above from his Minnesota Department of Corrections mug shot, has been on probation since May 24, 2010, but will soon be getting off probation, which expires on April 22 of this year. 

Unless, of course, he messes up somehow...

Mainstream media found Thomas Evenstad interesting right after his arrest for terrorizing, allegedly, the wives of two high-ranking public officials. Evenstad then faced further charges of criminal defamation against a police officer. This incident happened in June but I recently found the name of the suspect on the Hennepin County Jail Roster. Few people know that jail roster as well as I do, and unique criminal charges that I've never seen before always get my attention. 

In this case, one Alanis Berry is charged with "removal of a firearm serial number," a felony.

Prince Kibbie, pictured above in dreadlocks with a finger being pointed directly down at him, has reportedly been shot. It is likely one other person was shot as part of the same incident. JNS blog is seeking more details but this blog posting will describe what I've got so far.

Mainstream media were going crazy a couple weeks ago to report on the arrest of Thomas Evenstad, a convicted rapist who found his victims on chatlines and did a lot of hard time for that. Now running around loose in the world, Tom has been telling the whole world he's not a psycho rapist. One way he's been trying to prove his point is to trash his victims online and also to show up, terrifyingly, at the homes of two public officials when only their wives were home. 

That last bit of lunacy caused Tom to be arrested and charged with terroristic threats and then (while he was sitting in jail) Tom was charged with criminal defamation of a police officer, who Tom falsely labeled a "rapist." 

Did mainstream media follow up on the story? 

No. 

JNS blog has now learned there is an attempt underway to have Thomas Evenstad mentally committed...

And so it begins again. Peter Rickmyer, a Level Three sex offender who left Oklahoma around 1990 and still has an active warrant for his arrest, albeit not an EXTRADITABLE warrant, has been filing numerous frivolous lawsuits for the last several years as an intimidation tactic against decent people in the neighborhood. Because of his frivolous filings, Rickmyer has been barred under Rule 9 from making further filings in Hennepin County without a lawyer (a real lawyer, with a license) signing off on the filings. 

Undeterred, Rickmyer sued this blogger and others in federal court and his lawsuit was slapped down. Despite the failure of his lawsuit on its face and a $5,000 judgment for filing a baseless suit, Rickmyer was not completely barred from making further federal filings. Why? Well, the legal rationale was apparently that Rickmyer was nowhere near the all time record for frivolous filings as described in the applicable case law...

Peter Rickmyer, whose right to file lawsuits in Hennepin County District Court has been whittled down to a splinter, recently made a filing which, in summary, requested the prohibitions against his filing of lawsuits be lifted. 

As reported here on this blog, (who else would care?) the district court rejected Rickmyer's filing and (in my opinion) Rickmyer is lucky he didn't get jailed for that filing since it appears to violate the plain and unambiguous wording of prohibitions against him making, well, MORE COURT FILINGS...

A source inside city government pointed this blogger to a recent Regulatory Services committee meeting (April Fools Day, 2014) which revoked the rental license of Steve Meldahl at a 3111 Upton Ave. N.

Meldahl's empire is already on the ropes (see yesterday's article) but the burning question is how will a Chapter 11 bankruptcy "reorganize" Meldahl's empire if Meldahl loses another rental license? JNS blog thinks...

...(off the top of my head) two rental licenses lost within a year will mean the complete loss of all rental licenses, but I have fired off the question in search of a more definitive answer. Don't take that number I just threw out there as gospel.

This is a developing situation (which is why I'm hitting the PUBLISH button before I have that piece of information, above) but one thing is for sure: the fate of at least 85 Northside properties is up in the air. Already the question is being asked: What will happen to those properties? What will happen to the RENTERS? How will the City of Minneapolis assure a good fate for those properties instead of just falling into the hands of an even worse slumlord?
