and Criticism, blog post by John Hoff
Mainstream media found Thomas Evenstad interesting right after his arrest for terrorizing, allegedly, the wives of two high-ranking public officials. Evenstad then faced further charges of criminal defamation against a police officer. JNS blog has heard PLENTY about that investigation but all I will share publicly at this point about THAT is the investigation is...
...EXTENSIVE and appears to be very focused on the "cyber" aspect of Tom's doings. My word, police investigators even have their hands on...
Well, best keep THAT to myself.
So, yeah, mainstream media found (past tense) Thomas Evenstad interesting after his arrest but now only JNS blog is keeping the public updated about developments, including the fact a mental commitment proceeding has been initiated.
As part of that hearing, an expert was appointed. Now JNS blog has learned from online court records that an "exam hearing" took place April 14 with an examiner's report submitted. I guess Evenstand and his attorney Rick E. Mattox didn't like whatever was in that report, because they sought and obtained an order to appoint a second examiner to be selected by Respondent (Evenstad).
Unknown how long that process will take but in the meantime, Evenstad isn't going anywhere. And yet he is barely behind bars, in the sense that his (allegedly) defamatory material remains online, accessible to anybody, trashing the police officer who arrested him, trashing the system, trashing his rape victims. Even if Evenstad is locked up, how will his (allegedly) defamatory material be made to GO AWAY?
Evenstad is not a rarity. He is, in fact, the hot new trend. With anybody able to write anything on the internet, what is to stop internet savvy sex offenders from stalking and trashing their victims on the internet? One might think the mainstream media, after initially showing such strong interest in Evenstad's bizarre alleged crime spree, might follow up a little bit but...
Well, they don't.
But this blog can and will.
