According to the source, she or he ran into a unit of active duty Marines outside XCel Center on Monday during RNC. The Marines were apparently there because RNC is a "national security event" which is the magic phrase being used to make it legal for the military to be deployed domestically. (Opinion by source, though I share it)
The Marines all unloaded from a blue school bus visible in one of the photos.
Only one websiite on the internet has mentioned the presence of the Marines in St. Paul during RNC, a website associated with the unit in question. Click here to see the website.
A Public Affairs Officer was present with the unit. She identified herself through a business card and was apparently Leslie Palmer, Public Affairs, Non-Commissioned Officer.
