the story I wrote last night about Kennedy Barber, a convicted pedophile (and former "drill team" pupil of Major Topps) I asked my source for a photo of this same Kennedy Barber.
My source promptly forwarded the image above. And then my source forwarded this image, which you can click "Read More" to view...
Since convicted sex offenders are not allowed to use Facebook, I have notified Facebook and sent a link to
the court case showing his convicted pedophile status. This guy has, like, roughly 4,000 Facebook friends so contacting all of them would be a difficult task but I'm taking the time to notify the ten or so names I actually recognize, some of which are prominent North Minneapolis politicians.

In regard to the Omaha thing...
I made a phone call and alerted the people involved of Kennedy Barber's background. I sent them links so they could examine the online documentation themselves. I think it's fair to say Omaha might no longer be in the cards for Mr. Barber.
Like a number of others that I contacted tonight, they were shocked and surprised and HAD NO IDEA.
On another topic, I want to thank a behind-the-scenes researcher and post the following info. This info DESERVES its own blog posting but in the name of getting the info out there where it's useful, here it comes:

Kennedy Barber is listed on Tuloko as one of the videos another reader posted shows.

I googled don Simmons. He is not a local character.... I laughed when my memory was jogged by the google search. His name is David Alan Grier. He is a comedienne who created a character named Don No Soul Simmons. Have a memory laugh. Look him up!

according to MNCIS, he was required to complete sex offender treatment and got off probation in 2001. that means he is probably no longer even required to register. If you all really think this guy was sexually abused himself as a child AND there is no evidence he has dome anything since his case i would read a book, i think its called Victims no longer: the classic guide for men recovering from childhood sexual abuse. I see nothing to suggest he was doing anything wrong here. I don't know him or anything about his case I'm just going on this witch hunt I've read about the past few days. sex offenders are all around us. They are members of our community for better or worse. I have seen absolutely nothing that warranted ruining this guy like this.
All individuals who are convicted of molesting children need to STAY AWAY FROM CHILDREN.

I posted the Don "No Soul" Simmons comment. Joe is correct as David Alan Grier played Don Simmons' character in John Landis' segment "Blacks Without Soul" in the movie, Amazon Women On The Moon. I believe Chris Rock made his film debut in that movie as well. It may have been his 2nd behind Beverly Hills Cop however.

Mr. Barber's Twitter page indicates that he does work for Minneapolis Urban League or he did in April of last year.
Also, he does not use Twitter that often, but he may start using it more since his FB page is closed.
It may be interesting to watch his Twitter account for a while and see what pops up. I am not able to see a list of his followers or who he is following, but if someone has a twitter account they may be able to see it.

This is a healthy reminder. Predators are out there. Some we know, some we do not. Future level 3s are out there and we need to pay attention to who and how people are interacting with our kids.
