"Loyd," also splled "Lloyd," is one of the surnames associated with Minneapolis crime families according to a highly-placed source to JNS blog.

In light of a new emphasis on documenting the activities of alleged crime families, JNS blog has been scrutinizing the jail roster, MN DOC inmate list, and MNCIS with an eye toward certain surnames. Interestingly, the minute I start searching this way I've quickly come across criminal complaints with allegations that paint a picture of systemic, family-linked criminal activity.

In early September, a loss prevention specialist at Kohl's in Bloomington observed Kathleen Shamore Loyd and Demita Layna Loyd throwing items in a cart "with no regard to size or price," which is always a dead giveaway for shoplifting. Incredibly, two men came inside with "mesh bags" and loaded all the merchandise into the bags. The two men were later identified as Anthony Watkins and Tysica Watkins.

(So, well, MORE coordinated family crime activity. Allegedly)

Police were summoned and caught the four suspects leaving the store with merchandise valued at $2,745. Demita Loyd allegedly admitted to the attempted theft.

When police looked at the criminal record of Anthony Dion Watkins, they found out he had 16 felony convictions, the majority for theft related offenses.

On the criminal complaint, Kathleen Loyd's address is listed as 3322 Lyndale Ave. N., a homesteaded property owned by Silivinann Brown.

That's kind of a unique name, so I thought I'd run it through MNCIS. What I turned up was one of the longest and most CRIMINALLY FOCUSED rap sheets I've ever seen.
