Define "Favorite" Rapper

Click here for Mental Mid's Facebook, where video can be found of his new song B.O.M.

One anonymous commenter recently described Minneapolis rapper Mental Mid as this blogger's "favorite" rapper, which might be fair from a certain standpoint.

But from that same standpoint, he'd also be the "favorite" rapper of the Minneapolis Police Department, plus at least one local news station, plus any number of unknown street enemies who probably watch for new Mental Mid downloads to get a clue to his whereabouts and murder him over that "Kobe Diss" song...

Latest YouTube Song By Mental Mid, "MENTAL$ODA," Is Music Making Today's Top Headlines...Headlines About A Federal Criminal Indictment To Stop A Violent Gang Turf War

YouTube embed, blog post is by John Hoff

From the front page of today's Star Tribune:

“The indictment of these alleged gang members is a step forward in the fight against violent crime in Minneapolis,” Luger said. “As charged, these defendants engaged in armed robbery and drug dealing to fund the illegal purchases of firearms they used to conduct gang warfare.”

The long-standing turf war has led to at least six killings and numerous shootings, which have been on the rise in recent years, following the high-profile murder of a high-ranking 1-9 gang member in downtown Minneapolis last year.

A succession of videos on YouTube and Facebook fanned the feud, taunting 1-9 and Stick Up Boys members, which led to a series of retaliatory shootings on the North Side, according to court documents. (Underlined emphasis by JNS blog)

You Read About Mental Mid First On JNS Blog

The YouTube videos which fanned the feud were almost certainly "Kobe Diss" and "No Competition" by Mental Mid. JNS blog had its teeth marks all over stories about those videos before any other media came onboard. Now every major media entity in the state is writing about the recent federal indictment which references these same YouTube videos...

Minneapolis Rapper "Mental Mid" Comments On His Murderous Musical Controversy (And Comments On Commentary About His Murderous Musical Controversy) In YouTube Song "Neva Bluff" (Sic)

YouTube Embed Of "Neva Bluff" by Mental Mid (INTHABASSMINT T.V.) blog

I Miss Him So Much I'm Going Mental

Once upon a time, I had the white hot Mental Mid music story all to myself, the story of how "Mid's" songs (SOME of his songs) appear to reference the murder of gang leader Tyrone "Ty Crack" Washington in a downtown Minneapolis nightclub.

Every previous blog readership record was smashed by that one blog post about Mental Mid, click here, and then the red hot follow up stories, oh my word! Music video participant "Prince Kibbie" both shooting victim and accused shooter! People sending me stuff from social media, saying "LOOK WHAT THE (EXPLETIVE DELETED) PRINCE KIBBIE WROTE ABOUT THAT TY CRACK MEMORIAL BRACELET BEING LIKE, OMG, A 'CHAMPIONSHIP RING.'" (I am paraphrasing, of course) (Except for "like a championship ring," THAT is a direct quote)

The much-anticipated "Young Dro" concert was cancelled downtown, amid fears of violence, and what did Mental Mid do in the midst of all this, while there was (no doubt!) a rival gang "APB" posted for his murder and/or slow torturous death?

Well, cool as a brand new bullet Mental Mid released a song called "Back Flip," which according to my analysis after listening two dozen times, and consulting with some random urban dude in a coffee shop, is both about...

Prince Kibbie, Who Was Shooting Victim, Now Accused Of Being Shooter, As JNS Blog Welcomes Fox 9 To The Party, Fashionably Late As Usual...

Facebook photo montage used under First Amendment Fair Comment and
Criticism, blog post by John Hoff

Readers can click here for Fox 9 article and don't worry, it's not very long and contains relatively little detail, as befits a story on a television news blog, so it won't take you long.

But where are my manners? WELCOME, Fox 9, to the little soiree we have going here! We've been at this for quite a while, since about late January. What do you mean, why didn't you get an invitation? When does JNS blog ever send out formal invitations for these virtual events? Usually people just show up.

Let me take your overcoat (very fashionable! very mainstream media looking!) and you just come in here---watch the cord on your camera, don't get hung up there.

OK, you're fine.

We have some party snacks. Have some chips. Have some KIBBIE.

So, yes, Fox 9, I see from your recent story you're just catching up on news of the street war between 19 Dipset and YnT, but I say better late to the party than never at the party at all...

JNS BLOG RED HOT SUPER EXCLUSIVE: "Prince Kibbie," Part of Mental Mid Music Controversy Swirling Around Murder Of Tyrone "Ty Crack" Washington, Reportedly Shot...

Prince Kibbie, pictured above in dreadlocks with a finger being pointed directly down at him, has reportedly been shot. It is likely one other person was shot as part of the same incident. JNS blog is seeking more details but this blog posting will describe what I've got so far.

Kibbie was part of a well-publicized musical controversy swirling around a rap album called Da Movement, which included songs celebrating the shooting death of 19 Dipset gang member Tyrone "Ty Crack" Washington at Epic Nightclub...

Because It's Only Right And Fair, Here's "My Shit Bang" By "Kash Da Kid," Who Apparently Sings For The Other Side In Dangerous Musical Controversy Over Death Of Tyrone "Ty Crack" Washington...

YouTube embed, blog post by John Hoff

This blog has reported, extensively, a controversy over music videos by rapper Mental Mid ("Kobe Diss" and "No Competition") which have (it is quite fair to say) given severe offense to friends and allies of slain gang leader Tyrone "Ty Crack" Washington and put Minneapolis police on a state of alert which caused the cancellation of a much-anticipated concert by "Young Dro."

JNS blog has urged both sides to NOT kill each other and instead to continue making music airing their grievances. I have also been on the record stating I'll give public prominence to the music of both sides in the controversy, if that music is brought to my attention...

Mental Mid, Involved In Controversy Over "Kobe Diss" And "No Competition" Music Videos Apparently Referencing Murder Of Tyrone "Ty Crack" Washington, Releases New Song "Back Flip" Today As He Promised...

YouTube Embed, the blog post is by John Hoff

"Mental Mid" put two songs out into the world, "Kobe Diss" and "No Competition" and North Minneapolis went insane like a rabid pit bull on CRACK!!!

The commentary, the threats, the responses to the threats, the (um) INVESTIGATION into the threats, it was like nothing this blog had ever experienced before except for that time the police promised to serve a subpoena if I didn't turn over some emails about who deserved to die over selling fake "purple drank" on the internet.

ANYWAY!!!!

The much-anticipated "Young Dro" concert at The Venue was cancelled in the middle of the angry and threatening back-and-forth about "Kobe Diss" and "No Competition"...

Memorial Bracelet Worn In Controversial "No Competition" Music Video Was Like "Championship Ring" Says "Prince Kibbie," The Bracelet Had Street Name, Birthday And Date Tyrone Washington Was Murdered At Epic Nightclub...

post by John Hoff

If you've been following the hottest story in the history of this blog about the music videos "Kobe Diss" and "No Competition," which appear to make reference to the murder of Tyrone "Ty Crack" Washington and (it can be fairly stated) gloat and revel in the death of Tyrone Washington, then you know a certain bracelet is part of the controversy.

According to what I'm being told, a number of tribute bracelets were made with the street name "Ty Crack" and the birthday and date of death of Tyrone Washington. However, it appears at least one fell into the hands of somebody who was not a friend, but a declared enemy of Tyrone Washington.

Yes, one of these bracelets meant to memorialize the tragic death of Tyrone Washington is being worn by none other than...

More Detail Comes Out About Cancellation Of Young Dro Concert Yesterday (Saturday) Due To "Threats Of Retaliation" Over Tyrone Washington Murder At "Yo Gotti"

Embed of "What I Do" by Mental Mid, blog post by John Hoff

JNS blog has now confirmed with more specificity the reason a rap concert by "Young Dro" was cancelled yesterday at The Venue. Using a "Who Is Talking" search device I managed to find Facebook conversation by Getdown Theprinceknati Olahdenn, who is involved in the music industry and appears to have some direct or indirect role with the cancelled Young Dro concert...

More Info About Kibbie Walker, "named after St. Kibbie no doubt," Associated With Red Hot, Controversial Video Allegedly Referencing Gang Related Murder At Epic Nightclub...

Facebook photo used under First Amendment Fair Comment and Criticism,
also JNS blog asserted public safety exception, also (joke font) "man in red socks
exception" to copyright, (end joke font) blog post by John Hoff

Kibbie Shakeel Akbark Walker (DOB 4/10/91) who calls himself "Prince Kibbie," was repeatedly named in discussion about a music video that came to the attention of this blog after an anonymous commenter asserted the video was referencing the Epic Nightclub shooting of Tyrone Washington

Discussion about that video has shattered, destroyed, and blown away all previous page view records here on Johnny Northside. I will have the final numbers at the end of the day but page views are currently in the five digit range. I've never seen anything like it.

This red hot anthem of the streets being discussed is part of an album called...
