Melony Michaels and her husband John Foster, victims of a mortgage fraud scam involving 1564 Hillside Ave. N. and a motley cast of dubious Northside characters, won a judgment of approximately $849,000 but collecting the judgment has not been easy.

First USA Title, one of the defendants, is appealing and oral arguments will be heard January 8, 2014, 10:40 am in Room 100 of the Minnesota Judicial Center. This according to a documented posted recently on the Minnesota courts website.

The Year Of Our Lord 2014 may be when these victims of mortgage fraud finally get justice, but I won't be counting chickens before they hatch.

Police reportedly had word Sean Alexander (DOB 9/30/78) was going to be delivering "six 8-balls," which in the parlance of drug users is 1 1/4 ounces of cocaine. How did police know that? An informant, I suspect. Lately it seems like every rat on the Northside is ratting out the other rats, and I see it as a sign neighborhood revitalization is putting pressure on the criminal elements. 

But anyway...

Police heard Alexander was going to be delivering drugs to Burger King at 3200 Washington Ave. North, so police had an undercover officer sitting there...

It is New Year's Eve and tonight some people will party too hard and get arrested. They will be embarrassed, ashamed, and will never forget the night they spent in jail because it will be the ONLY night they ever spent in jail.

These won't be the kind of folks who NORMALLY get arrested.

Therefore, I am making a strategic decision to publish the jail roster NOW, before 7:30 PM on New Year's Eve, before the partying has started. By my rough calculations, a select number of "infrequent flyers" of the Hennepin County Jail will have their names off the roster before I publish again near the end of January, 2014.

I can do that. I can show slack and mercy and catch the fish I'm trying to catch, not the fish who don't belong in the net...at least not as much.

The Pioneer Press is naming Claudia Culter as the mother of Letaija Cutler-Cain, one of the young women alleged to have attacked Minneapolis mayoral candidate Mark Andrew for his cell phone at Mall of America. Click here for previous blog story. 

In the Pioneer Press story, Claudia Cutler said she was sick (presumably over the incident) and hadn't eaten in three days. Fair enough. The woman didn't eat.

But based on her record of criminal convictions, JNS blog can't help but wonder if maybe she had a little drinky-winky...

A previous story covered a lot of ground about Proton Investments Incorporated, but there is so much more ground to cover as information pours into my email from sources in the neighborhood who have been upset with Proton for years.

Neighbors have been doing their own digging, compiling, even MEETING about this vile and problematic business entity causing endless problems on the Northside. My blog is simply promulgating relevant information, some of it in raw form, rather than digging it up or creating it.

I promised in my previous story to commit a "data dump" of one extensive document I linked, so Googlebots could chew up the info and feed it into search engines. That document is an attempt by one unnamed neighborhood resident to draw connections between Proton and other individuals and entities; linking by, for example, common street addresses.

The document contains no real assertions. It is a compilation of raw data which will hopefully attract more coherent and organized information. Readers with sensitive stomachs may want to look away as...

Some hours ago, mainstream media sources named the second (alleged) attacker of Minneapolis mayoral candidate Mark Andrew as Deea Leshawn Elliott, a juvenile. 

In a story that made national news, 63-year-old Andrew was robbed of his cell phone at Mall of America and then jumped by two female accomplices. But Andrew fought back, causing the arrest of both of his attackers and, incredibly, his cell phone was recovered, as well. 

The mainstream media appear to be writing their story off this charging document (click here), but withholding many facts contained in the document. It is, however, the bread and butter of this blog to reveal a more granular level of factual detail neglected by the mainstream media. 

Few stories will illustrate the difference between mainstream media and this blog like THIS story...

Meet The New Johnny Northside Blog Favicon, Coming To A URL Near You! GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

JNS blog readers, who are an attentive bunch and seem to spot little technical changes, may have noticed a new "favicon" today.

The "favicon" is a little symbol which pops up next to the URL when you type in the web address (URL) of this blog. Since 2008 when I started this blog, the favicon has been a simple orange Blogspot symbol, which is the default setting.

Recently, however, I figured out how to change the favicon and I started looking around for symbols. For a couple of days around Christmas, I used a different symbol.  Then I found out the symbol was already in use by a major website, so I dropped it and found a standard and available "American flag" favicon. The change doesn't happen immediately and took a couple days to "stick." 

The American flag stands for all kinds of things, but as a favicon on this blog it primarily stands for...

Yesterday I wrote a blog post about accused murderer Damin L. Shufford, who mainstream media said lived in New Hope (and lord knows he might) but in looking over the Hennepin County Jail Roster I found him listed at 3651 Fremont Ave. North. This address is owned by Assertive Minneapolis Properties LLC, a name that has been associated with nothing good since it first "pinged" upon the radar of this blog.

Damin Lee Shufford (DOB 12/14/83) is accused of a shocking crime; shooting a 59-year old robbery victim because (as Shufford allegedy phrased it) "it's something I do to relieve stress."

The story goes like this: An adult male whose initials are LB was visiting his girlfriend in North Minneapolis. LB runs a clothing store in Winona, Minnesota but in the not so distant past LB was in prison.

While incarcerated, LB met Jabari Roosevelt Johnson and was friendly with Johnson, at least while the two were in prison. So recently, when LB was in North Minneapolis and ran into Johnson, LB spoke to Johnson and talked about how he (LB) had turned his life around...

Demario Jaqun Jefferson, DOB 12/7/88, launched a Pearl Harbor style surprise attack upon a house in Brooklyn Center; shooting into the house at least twice over something upsetting which was posted on Facebook. Allegedly.

Paris Lashawn Brown is accused of a burglary at 119 36th St. W. which took place May 27. Cash, a television and electronics were stolen.

Police managed to get a latent print off some "nesting dolls" and linked the print to Paris Lashawn Brown, whose parents obviously wanted a girl. Paris wasn't actually arrested until October 23. He's also charged with failing to register as a predatory offender.

Brown's last reported address, which is listed on the criminal complaint, is 4622 Aldrich Ave. N.; a rental property owned by Bryan Altman of 2619 Fremont Ave. S.

If you haven't already read the dramatic story of how second place Minneapolis mayoral candidate Mark Andrew confronted and battled with a trio of cell phone thieves at Mall of America, click here for the Star Tribune article or (if you dislike annoying Star Tribune pop-ups as much as this blogger) click here for the  CBS Minnesota story.

Andrew had his cell phone snatched while sitting at Starbucks in MOA, a place where I have often sat with my own teenage son; both of us occupied with our laptops. When Mark Andrew ran after the youth that snatched the cell phone, two other youth got into a physical altercation with him, apparently trying to cut off Andrew's pursuit. Andrew was struck in the head with some kind of metal baton and required stitches but his two assailants, 17 and 18, were arrested. The baton may have been a collapsable metal "asp" type like that found in the purse of the younger alleged assailant.

The cell phone was dropped by the thief and returned by a passerby. Passersby were otherwise too fearful to get involved in the incident.

Here, linked, is a criminal complaint in the possession of the Star Tribune for Letaija Shapree Cutler-Cain, (DOB 11/7/95) the older of the two accused assailants. Writing off a script provided by the Hennepin County Attorney's Office, major media like the Star Tribune and CBS Minnesota have provided broad coverage of a recent raid on 3111 Girard Ave. N., which produced four arrests and the seizure of guns and ammo. Bridget Turntine, pictured above, lived at the house and allowed gang members to have the run of the place, even with her small children present. Somebody out there knows what JNS blog loves for Christmas! INFORMATION!

So tonight it's an early Christmas because I am suddenly in possession of information I've wanted for a long time, which came figuratively wrapped in a big red bow. It is the old criminal complaint (known in Oklahoma as a criminal "information") about a serious drug and weapon incident involving Eric and Jerome Yzaguirre which happened in Atoka County, Oklahoma. Criminal pleas for both these young men stemmed from the arrest.

My regular readers will recall there is a long and twisted history with the Yzaguirres, involving actual and alleged criminal behavior by all three of the kids (Nicole, Eric and Jerome) wacky lawsuits filed by their suspended attorney Jill Clark, and even a recent shooting which very nearly claimed the life of Jerome.

Despite the persistently bad behavior of her brood, (or maybe BECAUSE of their bad behavior) their mother "Crazy" Terry Yzaguirre of the Mpls Mirror blog has been a persistently shrill critic of this blogger's attempts to clean up North Minneapolis.

Like A Rare And Delicate Flower That Smells Like A Sweaty, Dirty Old Pervert, Peter Rickmyer Filed A Federal Lawsuit Against JACC Which Bloomed, Faded And Died Oh-So-Quickly...

Information floating around that came my way is as follows: Peter Rickmyer, the notorious Level Three Sex Offender and frivolous litigant who lives in North Minneapolis but has been wanted on a warrant out of Oklahoma County, Oklahoma since about 1990,  recently filed an Equal Opportunity Employment Commission complaint against the Jordan Area Community Council.

When the complaint was dismissed, he filed a federal lawsuit which was dismissed with amazing speed for any court of law; not so much a dismissal as chasing a stray animal out of the courthouse.

Rickmyer is not, of course, employed by JACC nor did he ever (to my knowledge) apply to JACC for a job, EVER. But lack of the correct forum for a complaint has never really been a problem for Rickmyer, who has already been declared a frivolous litigant in Hennepin County District Court and is facing a ruling in federal court about whether he is a frivolous litigant THERE, as well.

Information, Not Fully Confirmed, Is Coming Loose About Geray C. Campbell, Victim Of The 37th And Girard "Blood In The Street" Murder...

With the publication of the victim's name, information is finally coming loose about Friday night's fatal shooting at 37th and Girard. One Northsider took pictures and shared on his photos on the popular North Vent Facebook forum, complaining that blood was still in the street and the photographer had personally witnessed three children walk by the graphic scene.

This kind of thing wouldn't happen in other neighborhoods, complained this Facebook reporter. The authorities would have the scene cleaned up. They wouldn't just leave a gory mess.

Word came later the street was plowed but, well...

Anyway, moving on to what I can unearth about the victim of this shooting. His name, according to the Star Tribune, was Geray C. Campbell, age 35, of St. Paul.

This information appears to match with a guy named Geray Christian Campbell, born 4/16/78, who has an impressive criminal rap sheet.

HOWEVER, though the age and name is the same, there's no St. Paul connection. That is troubling and makes me wonder if this is the same Geray C. Campbell, age 35.

Having expressed those doubts and a feeling that I have only confirmed to 89 percent certainty, here is what I was able to dig up, starting with a rap sheet...

Incredibly, some three months after being shot in the head, baby Isaac Early appears to be making a full recovery. News being spread around in the community by Facebook says Baby Isaac's sister, Denijah, is in the hospital awaiting a heart transplant and was already hospitalized when Isaac caught a bullet.

Meanwhile, on December 7 the baby's father Isaac Early posted the image, above, on his Facebook profile under the name "Lorenzo Vicious Early." He wrote "I'm in this shit for real" as a comment on this tattoo, but elsewhere twice made reference to the "Bang Bang 20 Gang."

Isaac Early remains on supervised release from the Minnesota prison system. I guess "supervised" isn't the same thing as "sternly ordered by MN DOC Supervising Agent Kevin McCann not to post gang crap on Facebook but to straighten up and fly right for the sake of his little son."

If this is what "supervised" means to the Minnesota DOC, it's no wonder Northside babies get shot in the head by accident, sometimes.

Glenn Smith's own mother is telling his friends to STAY AWAY FROM COURT, because the presence of Smith's friends isn't helping Smith one bit.

Glenn Smith, who is accused in a gang related shooting, recently became a father while in jail, and whose mother is in control of his Facebook page, had a court hearing recently.

I don't know how it went in court, but judging from what Glenn's mother wrote on Glenn's Facebook page, it didn't go well...

According to jail roster information, James Kirk was arrested on December 9 for "not a small amount" of marijuana possession, allegedly. He was released from custody on December 10 with no bail required. Hennepin County Sheriff's Department carried out the arrest on a bench warrant sought and obtained by the Golden Valley Police Department.

James Kirk, whose birthday is 7/16/1990, might well be the namesake of the famous fictional character of James Tiberius Kirk.

THIS James Kirk's middle name is "Ray," however that also sounds "science fiction-y." His address is 6812 Cloverdale Avenue, Crystal, Minnesota.

I'm not nearly as much of a Star Wars geek as a number of other personalities in North Minneapolis, but all the same it's a bit of a thrill to write a headline containing the name "James Kirk." Now a word to parents who are naming their kids:

Keep in mind that bloggers and headline writers are drawn to odd names, and can you assume your child will never, ever find himself in jail? Look what happened to Picasso and Socrates Dejoachim.

Alonzo Demetrius McCoy, Who Was Convicted Of Possessing A Weapon Of Violence Following The Murder Of Alisha Neely, Was Out Of Prison Recently, But Now He's Right Back In...

In June of 2011, Alonzo Demetrius McCoy was sentenced to 4 years in prison for the murder of 17-year-old Alisha Neely. Headlines screamed FOUR YEARS!!!!

The same headline linked above made it appear he was convicted of murder. But police couldn't link the murderous bullet to this guy's gun, and more than one person was firing when Neely got hit, reportedly. So his conviction involved possessing a weapon of violence or something like that.

Something like THAT following the murder of Alisha Neely.

But I guess four years doesn't really mean four years...

When police served a search warrant on 2722 Fremont Ave. N. this July, they allegedly found 31.4 grams of cocaine in the pocket of a jacket. In the same jacket was the ID card for Sylvester Powell, (DOB 3/10/49) who is now charged with felony drug possession.

"Powell" is one of the surnames which an informed, highly-placed sourced provided to me as the names of a known Minneapolis crime families. I do not know if Romere Powell is a member of some "Powell Crime Family," but his criminal record is impressive so he's worth writing about.

In the most recent complaint against Romere Powell, police say Powell offered to sell drugs to a citizen who was at Runyon's restaurant, a rather nice place at 107 N. Washington Ave.

This citizen was smart enough to refuse to buy narcotics but then, incredibly, allowed Powell to borrow a cell phone. So then the dude was forced to follow Powell down the street, trying to FLAG DOWN THE POLICE like, excuse me, would you please help me recover my phone from the DRUG DEALER who borrowed it and now won't give it back?

WHAT WAS THIS GUY THINKING? I mean, the one thing he knew about Powell was Powell was trying to deal drugs (allegedly, but, well, look at his RECORD). So if you loan a drug dealer your phone, and he uses the phone to coordinate a drug deal, what does that make you? I mean, besides STUPID? That's right, some kind of accessory.

"Patterson" is the name of a Minneapolis crime family, according to a reliable and high-placed source which provided JNS blog a list of names and put this blogger on a challenging mission to connect a vast and starry sky of dots.

I don't know if Tyrell Lamar Patterson is a member of this family or not, but he has quite a criminal record, he's named Patterson, and he lives in North Minneapolis. That's all the reason I need to document his recent circumstances, which have culminated in him heading back to prison right now...

Information I wrote earlier tonight about 4425 Aldrich Ave. N. was out of date even while I was hitting the PUBLISH button. It turns out the house went down today. Complete information was found on Old North Minneapolis Facebook group, which I have joined as of today.

The loss of this house is all the fault of slumlord Mahmoud Khan, who turned it into a run down, overcrowded, unsafe rental.  Occupants barely escaped with their lives during a fire in March of this year. After that, the building sat vacant except, one suspects, for rats and the occasional crackhead trespasser looking for metal.

Today the building met its doom.

Jeff Skrenes, who blogs as the Hawthorne Hawkman and started the popular North Talk Facebook forum, pointed me to some information on his forum and urged me to blog it since Jeff (social butterfly that he is) finds himself busy with other obligations.

It would appear a "Backhoe of Doom" is parked in front of 4425 Aldrich Ave. N., a notoriously decrepit eyesore owned by slumlord Mahmoud Khan. The parking of such a backhoe is always a sign of impending demolition, kind of like when a prisoner on death row is moved out of his cell and to the "ready" area, and asked what he'd like for a last meal.

Edward Odell Champion's last conviction in Minnesota was in 1990, when he pled guilty to a crack cocaine possession charge and was sentenced to a year in prison. Minnesota's online court records system, MNCIS, doesn't show any convictions after that, though Edward Odell had a good number BEFORE.

I'm trying to connect the pieces on the issue of Minneapolis crime families. I'm told by a high placed, credible source one of the families is named "Champion," the same family which produced State Senator (and criminal defense attorney) Bobby Joe Champion. But I don't know if Edward Odell Champion is a relative.

I do know Edward is no longer alive...

It was back in 2010 when I wrote about William Earl Champion and his arrest. It was actually because of William Earl Champion that I first became aware of the online Hennepin County jail roster, which has become a key component in my blogging. This was all because of William Early Champion...and, well, whoever it was who put me on the scent.

Well, it's becoming kind of a holiday tradition here at Johnny Northside: Every year, around this time, I mention that big-talking blogger Don Allen PROMISED everybody that he'd get to the bottom of the circumstances surrounding the death of Major Topps. Topps was beaten in the basement of a church. Some weeks later, he died, supposedly of causes unrelated to the beating. There was a great deal of whispering about Major Topps which can be adequately described with a single nickname:

"Buddy," pictured above, is owned by North Minneapolis resident Brian Bjerke. Over the past week, there have been repeated sightings of this dog, still wearing his blue harness as pictured above. Buddy was last seen Friday, about 2 PM, and 45th and Lyndale.

Buddy responds to his own name and his owner is out looking, constantly, posting flyers and distributing information to websites. If you find Buddy, his owner is looking for him and promises to make it "worth your while" to recover his lost and missing canine companion.
