Criticism, and for public safety reasons, blog post by John Hoff
Glenn D. Smith, charged in a gang related alley shooting incident which grazed the face of a 74-year-old man, had so many photos of himself and other people proudly posing with firearms that JNS blog published an article just about THAT.
But now it's time to reveal the rest of his Facebook treasure trove...
Click here if you want to view his "real deal" Facebook page and not just my synopsis, though you'll need a Facebook account to pull this off.
Let's begin at the beginning. As with so many other North Minneapolis thugs, the story starts somewhere on the mean streets of Chicago...
Smith lists his "home town" as Chicago, Illinois. Individuals hailing from Chicago have caused so much crime and trouble in North Minneapolis that it has become my habit, when seeing items on a menu with the word "Chicago," to express my displeasure to management. (Click here and scroll down to boldface header, A Tangential Story About "Chicago Cake")
Try it, JNS blog readers, it feels good.
Beyond that, I'm not sure what can be done except document the pattern, which this blog does almost DAILY.
The photo above was described by Glenn Smith as "my team Guccciiiii." (Like that, with two c's and no less than FIVE letter i's) Wouldn't this blog love to know the actual names so I could determine if they have criminal records? The individuals on the far left and far right look very familiar. Can anybody provide further info?
Wow, check out all that money. That's enough for at least two people to buy one-way airline tickets to Chicago O'Hare airport, and have a nice lunch, even at airport prices. TWENTIES, baby. Those aren't tens or fives.
"Bands on bands," is what Glenn calls this photo. Wow, there is at least ONE hundred dollar bill in there. I'm thinking that's enough money for a deposit on a low-end apartment in CHICAGO, hint hint.
Here is one of Smith on crutches. Unknown how he received the injury, but judging by how proudly he is posing, one assumes gang violence.
Here is more injury, this time KNOWN to be from gang violence. Of this photo, Smith wrote "Look At My Left Ear nigga's can't fight so they bite." (Sic) Check out his right hand. What is the point of concealing a weapon in your baggy pants if you have to be touching it all the time to let everybody know it's there?
Here, doing the gang sign thing.
This "F*** GAY BLOCK WHAT IS A 72" thing appears a couple different ways on his Facebook. The words (note "double bird" hand gesture) are clearly directed at another gang. Where, I would like to know, is the business making money off these gang related shirts and hoodies? Point JNS blog in their direction, so I can heap my scorn upon them.
JNS blog says, "If you include any singles in your money shot, it just ruins the whole intended impact." As Glenn Smith himself would phrase it on Facebook, "How you ain't know?"
The image above appears to be an homage to somebody known as "Scoota," who was born September 2, 1992 and died August 26, 2012.
Here is another photo of "Scoota."
Scoota is described by Glenn Smith as his "broski." The term "broski" is found on Urban Dictionary and appears to mean guys who would do anything for each other.
Despite having a very clear date of birth and date of death, I have been unable (so far) to determine the actual name of this "broski." Can anybody assist?
Here is Glenn Smith smoking. Sure looks like a "roll your own" job. Wonder what it contains?
No, wait. I don't actually wonder.
This is one of the earliest pictures of Glenn Smith. Note the absence of tattoos. Smith has been using Facebook for a number of years, accumulating a vast trove of photos, most of which are narcissistic self-portraits. He looks young and innocent in the photo, above, but he's already affecting gang-style clothing and gang-style poses. Where Smith ended up is the inevitable end of a path which starts with relatively innocent imitation of what the bigger kids are doing, as pictured above.
Here's another early photo, which Smith described as follows:
Me with da fattest bob marley blunt finna get high
I don't see how it's "fat." It is certainly the LONGEST blunt I've seen.
As sad as these photos are of young Glenn Smith, starting down the wrong path in life, almost certainly lacking sufficient parental supervision, there is an even sadder photo in the bunch:
This ultrasound photo, dated June 17, 2013, shows an unborn child Glenn Smith is claiming as his very own. In fact, Smith lists his status on Facebook as "married," though you know what JNS blog says:
SHOW ME THE MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE.
With a child on the way, 19-year-old Glenn Smith is facing serious charges that could put him away for a number of years.
